This was a Garden State Quilters guild challenge in 2006 to celebrate our 25th Anniversary.
I designed this quilt to resemble the old political bandannas of the late 1800s. The bandanna was custom made for our guild.
I inked all the black that you see.
I "made" the Lincoln cameo by fusing it on the fabric and then over inking it.
It was fun to pick out the various shirtings and prints. I used americana themes as much as possible.
This Mary Koval print was perfect for fussy cutting the corner.
What the? Shame on me! No Label? I will correct this soon.
So, can you find where my math went astray and how I managed to save this quilt?
BLT - a classic and perfect for hot evening when you don't want to "cook". Miracle Whip? Yep, midwestern through and through.
Look at the size of the tomato slice. crazy.

Another great quilt from you Barb. I like the deliberate mistake. I have one just like that in my brown and pink quilt. I really like the idea of the bandana, how many did you have to order?
ReplyDeleteWow! What a tomato! Ummmm, was it in the outside border -- where you had to add the black strips? I would never have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out -- it looks intentional! (Now, you'll probably tell me that isn't what you were talking about LOL!)

I'll take any sandwich with fresh tomatoes, but it's gotta be mayonnaise for me! I guess it's a Southern Thang!

I love it when you show off your golden oldie quilts!! This one is wonderful. Gorgeous fabrics and I love your clever border with the black strip. The bandanna is such a great idea to commemorate an event. That giant tomato made me laugh, it's HUGE!!!! I noticed your very cute salt and pepper shakers!!

ReplyDeleteI ate several BLT sandwiches while on vacation. Yummy! One of my favorite sandwiches. When I was a child, I would always order one at Scott's 5 & 10 downtown when my mother took me shopping.
