Barb? Who is she?
Friday? Not Yet.
That is a little how my life feels after a very, very busy summer.
I'm doing a little house update and tour today, so if that's not your thing, tune in next time when maybe I'll have something quilt related to share.
Here is one of my favorite spots. It is an outdoor balcony off our family room.
I dream of sitting out here sewing and watching the hummingbirds one day.
I found a great place to hang the hand cut silhouettes of the kids. They are facing their designated rooms here. They were 6 and 1 when they were done. They are now 24 and 20. That is a bath between the 2 bedrooms.
and finally progress in the Sewing Room! Hooray!!
A little nook for the big ironing board.
This is a big closet - BEFORE photo. I'm putting up shelving this weekend.
Ikea shelving that Rich built for me -
Cutting table. filing cabinet and machine.
Now here's something really funny. We ordered a media center from a catalog.
We measured carefully and thought it was the answer to all our storage prayers.
Are you SERIOUS? The guys who delivered and assembled it said "too big? no problem just return it." Then they left.
We'll have to see how this one ends. Wish me luck. I will NEVER order furniture like this on line again!
Hope you have a wonderful Friday!
It's starting to look like home! Love the porch, we sit on our's every evening. Your sewing room is coming along too. Can't wait to see what you sew first!
ReplyDeleteI fail to see the problem with the media center. It looks like you could store half of your house in there. Wouldn't that solve the problem? :)
ReplyDeleteLol! That media center is so huge!! And then they left- that is making me laugh so much. Your home is looking so beautiful with all your special touches. Your sewing room is wonderful with all that space and lots of natural light. Have fun putting the shelves up and getting your fabrics sorted. Ps It's Friday here in Australia.
ReplyDeleteOh your sewing room is wonderful! Can't wait to see what you do with the entertainment center!
ReplyDeleteWell you can still get to the kitchen and out the front door........now that is something positive. Since it is so black do you think it would look better with some stuff on it to kind of blend it in with the room?
ReplyDeleteBut Dear girl it is huge!!!!
Happy Sewing in your new beautiful space.
You are ready for some serious entertainment!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the sitting area--lovely place!
What a happy sewing room. Looking forward to seeing what creations surface from there. : )
Your new home is really coming together. It won't be long before you can really begin to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteWill the media center fit in your sewing room? Think of all the fabric it would hold! :) Maybe next summer you and the hummingbirds will be enjoying the deck. We have a trumpet vine that they love if you have the place and patience for one.
ReplyDeleteYour sewing room looks like it's taking shape. I hope you can soon be putting it to good use :0) Your deck looks lovely - thanks for the tour!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful new home you have! Love that deck - perfect spot indeed! And I am rather envious of that sewing room - plenty of room to move. Hope that media centre gets sorted out - perhaps you could stuff it in a large padded bag and post it back! Helpful weren't they?!

That porch looks fabulous. It looks as though you are really making progress with turning the new house into your new home.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to tell what the media center problem is from here -- is there still wall behind it on that left side? It looks pretty cool from where I'm sitting!
ReplyDeleteLove that cool sitting area -- I'll bet there are many relaxing times to be had out there!
Lovely. Your new house looks so open and bright, I can't wait to visit. Hang in there, there will be lots of great sewing time in the fall/winter. XOX
ReplyDeleteDo you find it fun starting fresh in a new home getting to fondle all your treasures as you find a place for them?
ReplyDeleteLove seeing how the house is coming on.
ReplyDeletei would have hit the wine as soon as the guys left you with that little media cabinet problem!!!!!!
Love the outdoor space. It looks like a great place to stitch or read or nap...LOL
ReplyDeleteThe house looks beautiful. You sewing room is looking close to done, or at least ready for sewing.
That media center sure is big.
It is hard to even tell in a store where you can see it if it will work or not. Maybe you just need a huge TV? ;)
Your new home is lovely. Bet you can't wait to get in and use that wonderful sewing room! "Just return it" ?! Well, there's a true story stranger than fiction!
ReplyDeleteYour home is lovely. I too cannot see the problem with the entertainment center. Looks like a great focal piece.
ReplyDeleteYour balcony does look so inviting!
ReplyDeleteLove those silhouettes. I have some of my kids and I treasure them.
Looks like a nice big sewing room. Hope you find some sewing time soon!
What a furniture fiasco! Good luck getting it all straightened out.
the only thing that i see missing from your lovely deck area is a glass of wine . . . perhaps you drank it already after the . . . delivery.
ReplyDeleteyour sewing room looks HUGE~! and i'm green with jealousy.
:-)

Thanks for showing pictures of your home! It looks lovely and your sewing room looks great! Shelving in the closet will be a big plus!
ReplyDeleteWhat a hoot! The house looks large, but that media center looks larger!
ReplyDeleteIkea shelving....great idea!!
Well, that is a big cabinet & a funny story! But your sewing room is taking shape, and the outdoor area is fabulous. It takes a while to truly settle in.
ReplyDeleteAh, that porch off your bedroom calls to us all. I, for one, am jealous! Lovely to see your sewing room take shape--tough to figure out where everything goes, but fun when you can make it fit to how you'll use it.
ReplyDeleteWonderful house tour. Thanks!
I love home tours! And sewing rooms are even better!
ReplyDeleteThat happened to me with a frig. Except the delivery men wouldn't even take it into the house. Hubby had to remove the doors himself and install it. After that it was, why bother to send it back. We just live with two inches overhang in the doorway. Oh well!
your sewing space looks great so far.
ReplyDeleteoh, my! that is a problem. It is a pretty shelf unit. hope you get that straighten out without any problems.
