Long May She Wave!

**Update 7/2**
Thank you to all who have emailed me so far.  I'm going to close the repro swapping at 50.  If you have voted to swap please send me an email to get on the list.  If I don't have your email I won't have you on the list.

Hip Hip Hooray~  The swap is on!  The repro group is going strong at almost 40.  The modern group has 8 so far.  I'll leave the poll up until July 10.   Please send me an email at barb.vedder@gmail.com so I can start building a data base for the swaps.  Just let me know which group you want to be in.  The patches won't be due to me until Sept or Oct. so there is plenty of time to make them.

With Independence Day coming I took a cue from Janet to post some Patriotic quilts.  Check out Janet's wonderful collection here.

Here are some of mine -

Fine Feathered Four - all things American

I love the Ford Motor Company fabric (lower right corner).  My father worked there for over 35 years as a machine repairman at the plant in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

Have a fun and safe Fourth of July - Happy Birthday America!

Send me an email for swap list - thanks!

  3. The quilts are so awesome, I love them all. Love that your dad worked for Ford, those are the only car/trucks we own! Bob won't buy any other brand. The Ford Edge did save my life!
My son Dylan just got a 1963 Ford Falcon convertible, very cool. The tradition continues....

  8. Great stuff, Barb! I enlarged the stars to get a better look at the Ford Motors fabric (wonderful little homage to your Dad) and was delighted to also see the variety of fabrics creating the stars.
Oh, I love that Lincoln quilt, too!

  9. What a great collection of patriotic quilts! I love the backing on the quilt with the Ford fabric in it. I've realized that I only have one patriotic quilt and it almost doesn't count since it's a throw quilt. Gasp! Oh wait, there IS an unfinished table runner LOL!

  14. Love the Abe quilt. Thanks for the post re: the 9 patch technique. Eleanor Burns dose it a similar way, but has you cut oversized if I remember correctly. Working on a back and used your way to make some larger 9 patches. Great results.

  22. Always love your patriotic themes Barb, always wonderful. My guild down here in Delaware is going to contact you to come and do a lecture and a workshop. I can't wait for that day. Miss your cheerfulness and exuberance. You can stay with me. Ocean Waves Quilt Guild is going to do a show next year, a big one, in July,2015 with the Red, White & Blue theme along with our many charitable accomplishments. Wounded Warrior, etc. Would love to see you enter something for that. I have my "new Ribbon Committee" busy making new ribbons, the wonderful Old Brownstone way. They love them. Miss ya, Wendy

  24. I love your quilts. I like that there is some sort of continuity in all of them. It's fun to see them whether the theme is patriotic, our presidents or the Olympics.. just to name a few! Also, it was nice to read about your father working at Ford for 35 years! My dad worked for the same life insurance company all his life too. It puts different perspective on life now and then.. Staying in the same town as kids versus moving all over as adults. Looking forward to the swap.
    Have a fabulous 4th!
