Reminder: August 15th Swap Post and Sign ups
My local guild, The Clamshell Quilters had their bi-annual show "Quilts all Around the Town" this past weekend. The creativity of the show is why I decided to be a member 2 years ago.
The show is set up like a town, with themed shops. Members hang and decorate their shops. We also donate and arrange all the flowers in the show.
Hanna and I were the owners of Oh Baby Baby!
The little dress in the corner was Hanna's coming home from the hospital in 1993.
This was around the corner, but still part of the Christmas Shop.
Fall Harvest
This was Hanna's favorite quilt - She just may start quilting one day.....
This was Viewer's Choice - the only award given and so well deserved.
My Happy Town was part of The Art Gallery.
Block Party was one of my favorites. It was presented by Steven, our past President and Quilt Show Co-Chair.
Far East Shoppe
Antique ShoppeRadiant Stars - I loved their props.
The Paper Moon was a great touch.
My Star quilt was part of Paper Pieced Goods on Watercolor Way.Mother's Garden was on Clamshell Cove Rd. I had a little gallery talk about it. Don't you love the "Do Not Touch" sign?
South of the Border (you can see my Hot Flash) around the corner.
This was a lovely shop - Memories with Memoral Quilts.
Here was our Chocolate Lovers Basket. Hanna and I had fun putting it together and the winner was thrilled.
Here is a Halloween basket that we didn't win.The Movie basket we didn't win.
The other Halloween basket we didn't win......12 baskets - we were skunked!
The show also had raffle quilts, boutique, vendors, mystery bags, Hoffman Challenge exhibit, demos and a magazine giveaway.
Have you ever seen such a clever way to have a guild show?
Congratulations to all the guild members who put on such a great show~
xo
a great exhibition, congrats to the guild members !!! the "coastal lilys" makes me remember a quilt seen in Paducah last year!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun waY to put on a show!! Great quilts too! How fun to have Hanna to help.
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative way to stage the quilts! Lots of nice quilts, too! I would have liked to seen the show and especially 1) heard your gallery talk; and 2) won that chocolate basket. Congratulations to all!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to present quilts. That does seem like a great guild and I love the hands off sign.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun way to present the quilts! Did guild members know ahead of time and create quilts for the "shoppes", or were the quilts fit into the shops as the show was set up?
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing with us all of these beauties ! I'm certainly sure you spent a wonderful moment with Hanna ! And whaaaat ? She doesn't quilt ? with a wonderful teacher like her Mom .... I can't believe that ;) (Hanna, we MUST speak together !) Ah ah !
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing so many great photos.
ReplyDeleteA unique set up for a quilt show. And unique baskets to win. Good to see your "Mother's Garden" quilt again. I did do a search of your blog for the posts about that particular quilt. I had forgotten that your mother passed away at too young of an age and from breast cancer.
ReplyDeleteKudos to you Barb and the Clamshell Quilter's. What a clever way to put on a show! Thank you for all the photo shares. Looking forward to the 15th!

You are kidding--you didn't win a single basket?!? Bummer!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts, great raffle baskets and a most fantastic way of displaying the quilts. The attention to detail with the decorations surrounding the quilts is inviting and really clever. Well done to you and your guild.
ReplyDeleteThat's probably the most ingenious quilt display I've ever seen. Your photos really made it feel like a tour through town. Very clever and a lot of work. Hope you had a good turnout. Fantastic baskets. I would have liked any of them! But the chocolate would have a been #1.
