I machine quilted it with my favorite (thanks Pauline) Invisafil white thread. Not match stick but close 1/4".
I sew basted my Whig Rose last week.
I can now officially report that I really love the Hobb's Tuscany blend of wool and cotton batting.
It is very easy to needle and I'm happy to be hand quilting again!
I made a few cute girl masks this week. We will be needing these for a long time to come.

ReplyDeleteFun, fun mini! While it's not the same thing, maybe I'll go pick up a quart of our favorite custard for when our son, his fiancee and hubby get home tomorrow. Wish I could try some wool batting. But we live in a house built in 1947, and the wool eating bugs were here first. Cedar protects most woolens, but sometimes clothes in the back of the closet find a few moth holes. (And we don't use pesticides in the house.) So investing the time in hand quilting with a wool bat is risky. Your stitches are so well defined using it, though! Maybe a mini to try it... Thanks for the great post!

Absolutely fabulous! Perfect summer mini! Delicious! Thank you so much for the testimonial on the Hobbs batting. I don't like their 100% wool as much as Quilter's Dream because it doesn't split well. I am anxious to try this one! Have a great weekend. And thanks for another great mini!

ReplyDeleteThis was such a treat to read. I agree with you on cutting out the back (I also think it lets the shape "puff" up a bit easier, and love your modern mini! Fun to see your Whig Rose, and your mask making, too. Yes, we'll be using masks for quite a while longer, I agree.
