Happy Sunday and Go Jets!
Thanks, Lori, for hosting the doll quilt along here is mine:
Here is a close up of the quilting and you an see the prints I used
I decided to use all different shirtings and to make some irregularities in the placement of colors/prints.
I thought this was a nice compliment for the back.
My American Girl doll, Annie, loves the new quilt!
Here is what I've watched so far this month. I, Caudius - my favorite! My great friend Mary B. gifted me my own boxed set. We've watched it together many, many times. It was a January tradition when I lived in Illinois.
I watched North and South for the first time - awesome! I always thought is was an American Civil War story - wrong! It's about the cotton mills in northern England. The dark, brooding leading man is a feast for the eyes. Cranford is also very, very good. I'm still watching Wives and Daughters, but I'm a total sucker for English movies.
Off to cheer on the Jets -
I had no idea your cheddar quilt was so small! I know you said doll quilt but it didn't register until seeing on Annie's bed. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the cupcakers tomorrow.
Mary
"You're all scum and you know it!". My favorite line from I Claudius. I've not only watched it many times, but read the books multiple times as well. I've been enjoying Cranford and am a real British TV junkie. Lately I've been reading a lot of Dickens and got the new biography of Dickens for Christmas, I highly recommend it! Meanwhile I've been piecing like crazy, a Ribbon Quilt. Love the cheddar doll quilt!
ReplyDeleteyour quilt looks great! I so want to make one, I just have to many projects on my plate right now... I thought maybe I'd make a wonky one...I love your mix of colors in it... And thanks for tip on the movies! looks like something we'd watch over here.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad for you the Jets won!
ReplyDeleteYour cheddar turned out just fabulous. I love your use of color, but I think I told you that before...
Never knew that North and South wasn't about the Civil War either! I'll have to finally check it out. Wives and Daughters was really good, too.
Oooo love the mini. It's great seeing it on a doll bed...most impressive.
ReplyDeleteCrispy

ReplyDeleteI love the doll quilt!! I would have made mine more scrappy like yours but I had to stay one step ahead of everyone!!

Barb - your doll quilt is fabulous! Quilted and bound already - I'm impressed.
ReplyDeleteBritish Tv yep it is my weakness. I have the next season of waking the dead heading to my home for tuesday. (thanks Santa) Your doll quilt is great. The fabric for the backing is cool.
ReplyDeletewhat a sweet quilt. Glad you showed us some perspective with the doll! All those tiny pieces.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt! Too cute.
ReplyDeletePBS Masterpiece Theater just ran Return to Cranford the last two weeks and I really enjoyed it. Many of the same cast from Cranford. Couldn't get into North and South...may have to give it another try.
Your doll quilt looks wonderful Barb. I love the scrappy look a lot. I want to watch those movies now, I love the british historical ones too.
ReplyDeleteYour little quilt turned out great! Love the variety of shirtings. I just loved the Gaskell collection. Got it sometime last year and have enjoyed it so much. North & South was my favorite with Cranford a close second. The audio of Cranford is delightful!
ReplyDeleteDarn! I love your coloring on your doll quilt. I am making the quilt too, and now it looks like I might have to make it again with the colors the way you have them.
ReplyDeleteOkay that Whoville quilt is the cutest darn thing I have seen in a long time! Did you just freestyle it? Your use of fabrics and selvedges are just perfect! I do believe there is one of these in my future!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration....what a
nice blog.....I just spent a lovely 30 minutes here.
Happy sewing
The size of this little quilt is deceiving. I've seen others on various blogs, but never in reference to something like your doll. It is quite a bit smaller than I had imagined. Your scrappy version is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI love your version of the doll quilt - great fabrics!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful, love both front & back !
ReplyDeleteI'm just looking at all the doll quilts. Your quilt looks wonderful and I love how you have it displayed. Sue-Anne
