Before I went away, I sent this Birthday gift to my friend, Sheila in Illinois.
It was one of those "big" Birthday's so I decided to make a red and white in remembrance of her visit to the exhibit, just about a year ago.
Here you can see the scale better. The blocks are 4" finished and there are 70, hhhmmmm, coincidence?
I used this red and white toile' on the backing and apparently it goes with Sheila's dining room.
My favorite home away from home: Holland America Line.
We were aboard the newest ship: The Nieuw Amsterdam.
It was beautiful.
Top picks from the trip:
The Crow's Nest, we came everyday after breakfast, and then for team trivia. The views are beautiful.
On Grand Cayman we took a submarine tour - it was incredible. We went 115 ft. down, and hey, I didn't even have to get wet :)
There are some bright blue fishes near the bottom of the shot.
Here is a hut that we "owned" for a day at Mahogany Beach, Honduras.
One of our favorite activities on board is sitting on Deck 3, Promenade deck, and watching the ocean go by....
And now there are dishes to do, laundry to fold and a dog to be walked. I guess I'm back in Jersey all right!
Hope you all had a great week and I look forward to catching up on my blog reading.
The quilt is so nice, got to love a red and white!

Well HECK!!! I'll just go ahead and say it...I'm JEALOUS!!! Yes, just outright JEALOUS!! I'm jealous of that gorgeous red/white cute little quilt and jealous that someone else got it besides ME. Oh, and I'm definitely the ole green eyed monster of jealousy over your little Vay-Kay!

Looks like a great vacation...I think my husband's favorite part of a cruise is the trivia...oh, well!
ReplyDeleteLOVE HAL! We are booked on their Eurodam ship to the Eastern Carribean in March. Love the promenade, trivia in the Crow's Nest, Piano Bar Trivia and dinner in the Asian Fusion restaurant Tamarind. I NEVER EVER thought I would love a cruise but it is the most relaxing week of the year!
ReplyDeleteI love your red and white quilt. What a lucky friend!
What a wonderful trip and a gorgeous quilt for your friend. It's great to celebrate milestones in special ways to create those special memories.
ReplyDeleteLove the bow ties...what a gorgeous little quilt!
ReplyDeleteNow you didn't take fabric from your daughter's project did you :0)?
Happy sewing
Lovely little quilt, the toile is a great backing, and you know that Sheila will treasure it.
ReplyDeleteI must tell you how much I enjoy seeing you prominently showing the labels that you put on your quilts. It's a great reminder (or a gentle push) for all of us to put a label on our quilts. They don't have to be lengthy or elaborate, unless we want that. Who, when, where, and why is so much better than nothing.
Our quilts are our legacy. Why wouldn't we want to document that?
Hey, that quilt just visited my house (along with our friend Sheila, of course). Lovely quilt. I can't believe Sheila is old enough to warrant all those bowties! Did you know Mary B also made her a red and white doll quilt? I'll send you pix.
ReplyDeleteYour trip looked amazing.
