I Tumble for you Jack!

I recently finished a new little Halloween quilt top. **post publishing note - I forgot to change the year on my image bucket.  I really did just finish the top and start quilting the doll quilt :) **

Jack Tumbler

Diane of Butterfly Threads sent me a set of her tumbler templates.  Thanks Diane!  She manufactured these and they are great.

here is how my design progressed:

This is how I move my rows from the wall to the sewing machine.

If there is a way I can mess it up, I still do.   Ooops!

Here he is before pieced.  He shrunk quite a bit.

Here is a doll quilt I started in a car trip to the Vermont Quilt Show in 2012.  I'm hand quilting it and is my take along project.

Hope you have a great quilting week!

  1. Great pumpkin {Charlie Brown}! I just bought a tumbler template to make a scrap quilt. I might just have to re-think that. Hand quilting, I am so impressed!

  13. Fancy thinking if a jack o lantern made from tumblers!! That's so clever! he looks wonderful with that big smiley face. Your dolls quilt is so lovely, I especially love the green backgrounds. When you say dolls quilt I wonder how big it is, it's hard to tell in photos sometimes.

  16. Both quilts are very fun! It's fun to see all those darks and all those oranges together, making a happy Jack O. I love the doll quilt, especially with that top row having a different background.

  17. I love the pumpkin. I also move pieces from one place to another on a ruler, which is OK until you tilt the ruler slightly, and they all fall off!

  19. The Great Pumpkin will be pleased to know you've made a quilt in his honor--he's terrific looking!

Fun doll's quilt, too. I like how you purposely keep a hand project around; I need to learn to do that too.
