Hooray! I finished my two Mid-Winter Blues quilt tops while watching Olympic Curling.
For this one I used red lattice, cheddar cornerstones and a blue border -
Here is my second one set with pink lattice, red cornerstones and a column print that I love. How different it looks.
Rich had a work snow day today. Here he is getting ready for an adventure with coco -
Here is the snow on the deck outside the kitchen. I know, we all have this view, don't we?
Fun For Friday - Harry Potter Stamps
The U.S. Postal Service is offering this wonderful little "book" of Harry Potter stamps. I'm spellbound!
It is really well done and each stamp is different. What a "magical" surprise.
Happy Valentines Day - Stay safe and warm
Amazing how different both quilts look, they do look great.
ReplyDeleteNot had a bit of snow here his year, just rain, rain, rain. I wonder if Harry Potter can work his magic and clear your snow dump.
Oh, what a difference between the two, even starting with identical block sets! Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the storm. We're sitting this one out in Ohio ~ thankfully!
Love both of your quilts! I have a pillar print from years ago that I have never been able to cut into. Yours looks great here. Stay safe and warm in all that snow!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful incorporation of cheddar! Love it!
ReplyDeleteWe are usually buried in snow this time of year, but we have had rain for days and the snow in the valley is melting away.
What a fun collector's stamp issue!
Wow! I guess that is why we all love fabric so much. It's magical! Glad you shared the HP stamps. I must get some. Hope the power stays on for you.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you put this snow day to good use too! I will have to tell the grandkids about the HP stamps, they love him. Your little quilts look like they may be the start of a collection? How cool would they look on a wall....Hannah's quilt is on the home stretch, she is going to love it!
ReplyDeleteI love both quilts and agree they look very different and charming!!
ReplyDeleteWill you use the stamps?
I have to get the Harry Potter stamps!!! Must have.
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are both so pretty. They look so different with the color changes. So glad I don't have to pick a favorite.
Stay in, stay safe, and I hope your power stays on.
Winter is probably my favorite season, but after this year, I just don't know. I certainly hope that you won't lose power again, and can wait the storm out in your sewing room.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on the Harry Potter stamps; love the packaging. Perhaps sales will boost the Postal Service.
Love your versions of the quilt-along, and a new zigzag!
I like both of your quilts. I'd have to pick the pink sashing one as my favorite - what a great pillar print! Wow that's a lot of snow!
ReplyDeleteWow you've been busy! Love the quilts, so different and so beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteCan I just say I am so happy not to be in the Northeast this year?
Harry stamps, wow at the post office counters? Must have!!
Happy Sewing, Keep warm
Despite the snow, you've been creating some awesome quilts. Both are so unique. But the pillar print sends that quilt to the finish line for a gold metal!
ReplyDeleteWonderful Mid-Winter Blues color/fabric choices. I especially love the column print!
ReplyDeleteI don't cope well with cold and snow ("Never live north of I-10"), so you have my sympathies. Hope the power doesn't go out. I will not whine about lack of power after the next hurricane - I'd rather be hot than cold!
Must.get.Harry.stamps - thanks for the heads-up!
Happy birthday, Mr. Lincoln!
Your Midwinter Blues look wonderful! It all looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteStay warm!
your quilts are lovely. The snow looks amazing... we have just had 13 days over 40 C and today the heaviest Feb. rain in 45 years , my daughters house was flooded in 3 rooms as the storm water system failed to cope with the amount of water. It will take thousands of $ and many weeks to fix it. Must try and source some of those stamps for my collection. I don't generally seek sets out these days , but they are a must have, especially as my GD is a Harry Potter fiend
ReplyDeleteYour Midwinter Blues are both so pretty. It's amazing how changing sashing and borders will make a whole new look. I'm in MA with a similar view out my window!
ReplyDeletePowerful difference in the borders for your quilts. Thanks for the HP stamp heads up.
ReplyDeleteHang in there , the snow won't last forever. Your two versions look really good. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI like both those quilts. So different than each other! I just took a picture of our back patio. Yes, they are all starting to look alike. So much snow! Do you think we are done now? I may have to buy Harry Potter stamps and send them to each of my kids. They were so into Harry Potter books and movies. Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteLove both of your quilts - I can't choose a favorite! Isn't it amazing how different they look? That's a lot of snow - it's coming down again here, but only an inch or so is expected.
ReplyDeleteI love both versions of Midwinter Blues. I just have to finish sewing the binding down and I will be finished with mine. Stay warm. Hugs
ReplyDeleteBoy -- you guys got a ton of snow -- as it should be LOL! Your little quilts are darling -- I love seeing two different versions. And those HP stamps look like so much fun -- I'll definitely be on the lookout for them!
ReplyDeleteYeah, we have a similar view on our patio here in NJ! Love the mini quilts.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing how different the borders make the quilt look. They both look equally wonderful! I love the way Coco is happy as a penguin in the snow, Rich doesn't look too sure about being outside in all that snow. How fun are those Harry Potter stamps- they will be popular!! I keep thinking I should read the HP books again.
ReplyDeleteI was looking at your quilt in the header and noticing the hand quilting. Did you quilt sections of the spiral and then turn the quilt to work on other sections? Seems like it would be difficult to quilt it otherwise. Anyhow, the quilting is oh so nice.
ReplyDeleteYour deck view looks similar to ours - did you hear that Florida is the only state out of 50 that has no snow? Even the Hawaiian volcano peaks are topped with the white stuff. Love how you used the pillar print in your second quilt!! And those HP stamps are a delight!!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I like everything in this post!! And love your header too!
ReplyDeleteYes, your two quilts look so totally different. Isn't it crazy how that works just by changing the fabrics!!
ReplyDeleteI.LIKE.
Curling is really kind of boring, but we just can't stop watching it!!! ha!
Great post. Thx for all your support..
ReplyDeleteI just came from another blog that had finished the same quilt. It is neat to see how you did your's.
ReplyDeleteYep! that is a lot of snow.
both of your midwinter blues doll quilts are fabulous~!!
ReplyDeletereally love the cheddar and amazing how that column print totally changes the mood and look~!
i was quite sorry (for myself) that i couldn't participate in Lori's QAL this time. i hope to do it at some other time.
i see all of your snow and can understand why you are surprised by my daffodils and iris coming up. normally we would have lots of snow like you have but this year has been scary strange . . . sadly, it's completely probable that my plants/flowers will get ruined by freezing temps at some point.
i wasn't aware of the Harry Potter stamps but will have to get some.
your daughter's quilt is coming along. will you be hand quilting it? i always think that is when a quilt 'gets it's spirit'.
:-)

You did a neat job with your choices for the Lori quilts. I like them both. I sent you an email. I am glad you have settled into your new home. I had no idea about the Harry Potter stamps that is neat. Stay warm and safe, yes we have the snow like you. :0
