Hello? Anyone Home??

Sometimes I feel like I have nothing to post about.  Then I have to many little things.  Oh well, here goes.

I've been working really, really hard on my Jubilee quilt.  You know it's bad when Mr. Fun says "you've been working on that one a long time...."  Wha?  We did actually move our whole lives during the quilting process.....

I only have 1/2 of 1 border left to quilt!!!

I switched up Andrew and Sigs (and guest) bedroom this fall to feature cheddar.

Mary B. made me this lovely hand dyed quilt.

I love how she quilted it

The other nightstand has this little cheddar beauty that I made years ago.

Speaking of Andrew and Sig - we had a lovely day at the zoo yesterday.

who can resist face cutout photo boards?  not us.

And we fell in love with the baby goats.  These 2 were born to Peaches last Friday.  There were some that were born on Sunday.  I want one!!

I have had several readers ask how I hang my quilts.  Here it is:  The Hang it Dang it.  I was introduced to this by my friend, Elizabeth O'S.

These are available on-line at several websites, just google it and order one.

It has changed my life!   It is a bold statement, but true.

I have just hung my 4th hanger in my sewing room.  It takes more time to find a hammer and nail than to hang it.  It only takes 1 nail and is self leveling.
The instructions are super easy to follow and changing a full sized quilt takes less than 5 minutes, which is how I enjoy different quilts throughout the year.

here is my new hanger and an older quilt "Lollipop Garden"

Sometimes I like to offer a behind the scenes shot of the UTTER CHAOS going on in my life.  This shot taken right after the beauty shot as I walked away from the mess.  As per usual, coco looked bored to death, literally.

Photo cropping has also changed my life......have a great week.

  1. Great quilts in the guest room! Do you let guests sleep with the bear too? I guess I'd better check into the hang it dang it- looks like a great item for quilters.

  3. Love seeing your quilts! Those cheddar ones make my mouth water. LOVE the Hang-it Dang-it. When I moved to my new house I bought them to hang all my quilts and it is so much easier than the curtain rod set up I had in my old home. Now I can change the quilts myself in no time at all. OH those baby goats are adorable - I would have wanted to put one in my tote bag and taken them home. too cute!

  4. Oh Barb, I think you have just changed my life! I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm still using dowels and nails to hang my quilts and it is quite cumbersome and I'm tired of having to climb across the back of the sofa to change out the quilts. I'm going to order some of those right now! You should be making a commission!! LOL And the cheddar theme in the guest room is so gorgeous. I don't remember seeing the bed quilt before but it made me drool a bit. I sure hope Coco wasn't too disturbed by the changing of the quilts. (as if!) Please give her a nice long belly rub for me, she looks like she needs one. :)

  6. hey, no judgment here. take as long as you like on your jubilee quilt -- mine took three years, and the blocks were all made by others!

  11. Thanks for the sneak peak of your life and quilts.

Love the dark cabinet with the bright threads in your sewing room. You should share a before and after of the photo you cropped.

Those baby goats are too cute.

  13. I look forward to seeing the finished Jubilee quilt. You have 2012 on it and maybe will get to put 2014 on a label on the back.

  14. I can't believe how "quickly" you have managed to quilt the Jubilee quilt! Not to mention everything else you have done in between...give that Mr. Fun a talking to! It is so nice to see hand-quilting, there is something so beautiful and human about it. Keep up the good work!

  15. First of all I love that cheddar quilt on the bed, it's so wonderful! I have not seen that kind of quilt hanger I will check it out.

  17. Your quit is so beautiful. It plainly says 2012 so it has only been 2 years. To make such an intricate quilt in two years it is NOT a long time. Take your time; where's the rush? Love the flying geese quilt on the bed. Ooooohhh! I love that one. Mmmm!!! P.S. photo cropping was on my grateful list on Thanksgiving. LOL.

  18. I love everything about the cheddar quilt on the bed! I think the end is near for the jubilee quilt and think of it this way, so much of your life got stitched in it. Is that all the fabric for the new quilt in the making? Your sewing room looks so organized. I am not sure if I can ever post pictures of my room.
I did not know about those hangers. I am going to look them up. Thanks!
My favorite pictures have to be the one of the zoo visit and the baby goats.. adorable!

  20. Love all your quilts - including the folded ones! Must look at that hanger - self leveling sounds perfect. That is not chaos - believe me - just the creative process!

  21. Only half a border left?? WooHoo! That is cause for celebrating, I'd say--or I guess you could wait until you have that border finished.
I want to come sleep in your guest room. I'll bet it would be sweet dreaming under that quilt. And I love the little quilts on the nightstands.
Have never heard of the Hang It Dang It, but then I don't get out much. I'll have to check it out.
Your honest shot of your sewing room just makes me feel more comfortable. Mine seldom looks better, and often looks more "used".
BTW, Andrew makes a great otter! : )

  22. I love your jubilee quilt and give you lots of credit for hand quilting it! I just got one of the Hang It Dang It quilt hangers for a large wall hanging that we put in the living room. Before I ordered it, we were debating how to hang the quilt, partly because I wanted to easily change to other wall hangings, and also because I wanted to hang it as high as I could and didn't want to have to have 2 people every time I wanted to change it. I googled "how to hang quilts" and it came up. Then I remembered that a friend in Texas had gotten one of those and I asked her advice. I ordered mine from Nancy's Notions and got free shipping with a special code from my friend and also it cost less than the company's web site. It is working great!

Thought Cocoa was the one looking out the window! I didn't realize she was her energetic self fast asleep on the floor. I guess your accomplishments tire her out!!!
