For Immediate Release

Good News is always appreciated here.  I was very excited to find out last week that my Jubilee Quilt has been accepted to compete at the AQS Lancaster quilt show.  My favorite part of paperwork is the press release which always sounds so official and serious.    According to the release, the contest will include 200 quilts from 36 states and 9 other countries and be visited by more than 15,000 people.

It is such a great way to start off a new year!  I look forward to attending.  Click here for all the details on visiting the show.


On New Year's Eve I cut and laid out the next block in my Alice Payne quilt.  That's a lot of leaves to baste and stitch!

I've been doing some construction work on house blocks for a little swap I'm in.

I've added a Liberated House workshop (with permission from Gwen Marston).  There is a button on my side bar with a link to my lecture and workshops page.  I'd love to visit your guild and sew with you!

I'm making a boy quilt for a family friend.  I decided to use Sujata's book,  Cultural Fusion, as inspiration for these zig zag blocks.  Check out her blog, The Root Connection, to read more about her book.   The book has many wonderful quilts and photos to inspire any quilter.   (the light is bad today and these colors don't look quite right.)

Lastly, here is coco at her "Howl-a-day" party at doggie school.

I don't know why but these photos crack me up.  She looks so silly yet, so serious!  What a sweet girl.

    Congratulations! I can't wait to see it! I am sure there will be a ribbon attached!
    I love your house block too, very colorful. Is the quilt for a baby or toddler or bigger?

    Congratulations, Barb! I am so glad I will be able to see your quilt in person. I agree with Kelly on the ribbon being attached to it.     That is such exciting news!! I know your quilt will be admired by everyone who sees it. You've been having fun in your sewing room with fabulous blocks, I'd be first in line to do a workshop with you if I was nearby. How funny is Coco!! I don't think I've ever seen her look so serious.

    That is so exciting!! It is such a fabulous quilt! I like the look of your next Alice Payne block - I have a thing for leaves - lol! Your house blocks are very fun - I especially like the one in your header with the woman mixing - what could she be baking... :0)

    Coco was hoping you would give her a "drink" -- that would have loosened her up a bit. She sure looks cute in her festive collar.

    I love your little house block. It's a big reminder for me -- I was in a house swap and someone dropped out and derailed the rest of us -- we need to get back to it.

    And CONGRATULATIONS on your show acceptance -- very well deserved!!!!

    My goodness, that IS a lot of leaves on the Alice Payne quilt!
    Coco looks like she has reached (and maybe exceeded) her tolerance for holiday silliness. *LOL*

    Yay, Barb! Your Jubilee Quilt is gorgeous. Hmm, wonder if I can call in sick to get to the Lancaster show to visit it in person. (Good think my boss doesn't read quilting blogs...) Good luck with teaching assignments. I hope you get as many as you want. And love that Coco! She was probably scoping the treat table, calculating her move.

    Love your zigzag blocks! I got Sujata's book for Christmas and am itching to make some of those blocks!

    Congrats!!! The quilt is stunning in pictures I can only imagine how amazing it is in person.
    Coco does look very serious in her photos. Maybe she wanted to have a really good picture taken of her all dressed up. :0
