It has been a homework week. Working on the home, having work done at the home, doing sewing homework......
I finished the 3 pieces I committed to make for the AQSG Seminar next month. Thank you , Wendy of The Constant Quilter, for the wonderful border fabric on this quilt!
The backings I picked - they still need labeling.
Close up of one of my favorite quiltings patterns, interlocking cables.
I am so grateful to have a home where I feel safe and secure especially in light of the hurricanes down south. I had a crew of 6 men around the past few days repainting our decking. It was a huge job!
Aaahhh, that is better.
I put away my summer quilts and decore - Yay it's fall here in CT.
I switched out my Nana's dishes for the brown transferware.
Yay - I remembered to hang up my paint by number fall painting.
I grew that gourd and made the little green pumpkin.
I also made these fabric pumpkins. You can read a fun past post about them here.
My favorite spot to decorate - the window above my kitchen sink.
I love how it looks at night.
And finally, my friend, Diane of Persnickety, sent me this fabulous Abe bust. It is the same one as the little one that Mary B sent me years ago. I'm doing a little sewing for her and I'll share that another day.
Off to Ann Arbor tomorrow. Have a great week.
xo
I love your fall projects. The deck is looking great. It certainly is time here in New England to get those fall decorations out. Your home looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteAbe looks right at home in his new digs, amidst your beautiful autumn decor.
ReplyDeleteI changed to my fall quilts this week too! Love your Abe!!
ReplyDeleteGee I don't have any fall quilts. So I might be at least making a table runner for the living room. Any excuse will do for sewing lol.
ReplyDeleteYou are getting me in the mood, Barb! Though I usually hold out for the first day of Autumn. I have a gorgeous late Summer bird quilt from a dear friend, and it deserves its prominent place for as long as possible. Your commissions are gorgeous. And that border print is delightful! September 22nd...
ReplyDeleteLove your quilts, on the table and hanged, your fall decoration, the bust of Aby is a little treasure and your decking is brand new !
ReplyDeleteOMG ! What a week ;) !
xoxo
I have told you previously how much I like your brown transferware. Do you actually use it or just for decor? And, of course, I like your paint by number fall picture.
ReplyDeleteLove your little donation quilts! I remember how I loved doing Paint-By-Number as a child (back when it was oil paints)! Wish I still had them! But I think kits can still be found on ebay!
ReplyDeleteLove your fall decoratios
ReplyDeleteYour home looks warm and seasonal. I, too, remember doing paint-by-number with my grandmother. We will enjoy decorating with your maple leaf quilts at the AQSG Seminar!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delight to change your decor with the seasons. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI like cables too! Lovely homework of several types--the decor looks great. I would love to have workmen painting at my house just now! I'll have to settle for the window guy this weekend. Lol
ReplyDeleteFor some reason it seems more fun to decorate for fall than any other season. I always love what you do. I think you get an A+ for your homework.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post, Barb! Your decorations look so warm and inviting. Love your little AQSG donations. I still have the one you made for AQSG Cherry Hill :) Another wonderful Abe addition to your Presidents Wall of Fame. The paint-by-number is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your fun pumpkins and fall displays--puts me in the mood to do a little decorating. Did you do the paint by number painting? It's such a nostalgic looking piece!
ReplyDeletehave you shown the stars and alternates quilt, that you have on the table, in such a way we can see the whole thing? Love it! Thank you so much for sharing and inspiring!
ReplyDeletei was going to send you a photo - but you have no email on your profile.
DeleteThe seasons are changing and it looks like your house is all ready! Hope you're having fun in Michigan!
ReplyDeleteOnce again...a happy and inspiring post!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so ready for Fall (and the end of hurricane season)! Thanks for wafting a little breath of Fall my way!!
ReplyDeleteYour pumpkins intrigue me and I checked out your original post, which I don't think I ever saw before. Since we downsized we don't have a mantle or piano to display things on, but I could put some on my tall bookcase and china cabinet if I get any made. I love some of your fabrics - especially the brownish leafy fabric. I have had that in orange and green and it's always been one of my favorites. Thanks for showing your fall decor. I need to change things around here.
ReplyDeleteWow! I knew as soon as I saw that fabric that you would do something terrific with it. Hope I get to sit at the table it is on! Your Fall decorating is beautiful. I'm a little behind - o.k, I'm a lot behind, I still have spring quilts on the sun porch! Can't wait for seminar!
ReplyDeleteAhhh...you are going to Ann Arbor...I miss my Michigan home. They have a GREAT Ethiopian restaurant on the corner of 5th and Washington...the Blue Nile. My favorite place to eat when we lived there. No Ethiopian food in NW Alabama...:o( Your fall quilt and decor are so beautiful...your have such a nice touch for making things seem special and lovely.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful post. I always love seeing how you decorate your home for different seasons, and occasions.
ReplyDeleteLooks so cozy, and inviting! Bring on autumn, I say!
ReplyDeleteI really impressed after read this because of some quality work and informative thoughts . I just wanna say thanks for the writer and wish you all the best for coming!.

Your deck looks great! I really like the diagonal lines. I just painted my deck, probbly not as big as yours, but I know first-hand what a job it is. Your house is nicely decked out (haha) for fall. I need to make the transformation soon too.
