I've been busy finishing my medallion hand quilting and teaching fun houses again last week with The Warwick Valley Quilters.
I packed up a few quilts and headed over to Chatfield State Park to share some of my fall quilts with you.
This is one of my favorite features of the park. Can anyone really resist a covered bridge?
I used large carpenter clamps to hang them. I almost dropped one, but the water is shallow and it is only water afterall.
This is a horse trail that winds around the outside park. Coco loves it. This is a basket block exchange I made years ago.
My nine patch strippy. This was also a block swap from many years ago.
This may look like a Jo Morton pattern, but her pattern came out after she took a photo of my quilt while visiting my guild. πΆπ―
A Signature String quilt signed by Beaver Island Retreat Quilters.
Hand quilted, rough edge machine applique. I like the mix of different techniques in this one.
Fall Maple Leaf quilt, a block of month win from the 90s.
The backing is a beloved fabric we used call fruit and fiber.
Sumptuous Stars from the NJ State Documentation Book.
Goes perfectly with the bittersweet on the boardwalk.
This ranger statue made a perfect model.
He stands sentinel outside a nature center building.
Thanks for joining me and revisiting some of my quilts and thank you Kyle and Cecile and many other bloggy friends for inspiring me to take some location quilt photos.Happy Fall Ya'll!

So many lovely, gorgeous quilts! Loved the outdoor photo shots!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely fall quilt show! You set quite a task lugging quilts all over the park. But it's a great backdrop for the quilts.
ReplyDeleteThey are all gorgeous. Love the birds and the bees. I may have to make a 9 patch stripey one
ReplyDeleteHow fun to see your beautiful quilts in such a perfect setting!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm inspired to do the same!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your quilts and the ranger with the quilts cracked me up!!
Ohhh what a beautiful post ! And I'm happy to discover some of your wonderful quilts because I only knew the quilt with Sawtooth Stars ! They are all gorgeous and your pictures terrific !
ReplyDeleteBravo Barb !!
Love the quilt photo shoot, especially with that cooperative ranger, and the covered bridge shots. Perfect day and beautiful surroundings.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a treat! It's like a quilt show from my chair. What a perfect venue too. That ranger can hold my quilts anytime! My quilt photos are so boring. Thanks for the inspiration to "step it up"!
ReplyDeletebeautiful quilts...the stamp basket would be my personal fave...have always loved it...
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post. The Park Ranger statue with a quilt made me smile. I like the picture of the quilt posed by the bittersweet, just right.
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous quilt displays. Fun and colorful just like your quilts.
ReplyDeleteGOOORRRRGGGEEEOUS! The quilts and the pictures. Just gorgeous! Yes, I do love covered bridges too. Thank you for sharing all these wonderful photos. This time of year makes such wonderful backdrop for quilts photo session. I really enjoyed this post. Thank you! ;^)
ReplyDeleteOh, great glamor shots, Barb! I LOVE the the quilts on the covered bridge and the statue, and the fences--well, all of them! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for such a lovely autumn show and tell! It's so nice to see your collection of fall quilts out in the wild. I love the bridge photos and I'm glad the ranger was so well dressed if only for the photos. LOL
ReplyDeleteThe photos on the boardwalk remind me that I need to scout out some photo op spots on my next walk. Our fall color is still a little way off though. I might dream about that basket quilt tonight. Sigh.
I enjoy your fun houses which appear to be made from scraps. Your fall photo quilt display was like attending a quilt show. Thanks! P.S. I'm glad one didn't fall in the "it's only water." :-)
ReplyDeleteBarb, I don't even know what to say, I love this post so much. I can just hear the water gently bubbling along. What a beautiful setting - makes me homesick for New England for sure - what a treat to see your beautiful quilts in this setting!!!! Love the statue holding your quilt - so cheeky.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts! Your work is invaluable! I recently discovered your blog and now I will read your posts more often! Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteBeautiful post. That covered bridge is in great shape; your quilts look gorgeous on location. I love the fall quilt show.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful setting for your beautiful quilts! The leaves here haven't begun to turn. (And I didn't realize you lived in Glen Ellyn once upon a time.)
ReplyDeleteI love your outside quilt show!
ReplyDeleteOh, what fun. Beautiful quilts, beautiful park.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilts! It's like a trip down memory lane.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that you draped the basket quilt around that statute!! TOO FUNNY.
And of course I've never seen a covered bridge I didn't love!
Great that you lined the quilts along the side! Guess there's not too much traffic.
xxx
LOVE your 9-patch n cheddar quilt and the beautiful cable quilting you did in it! No wonder you inspired others! What a beautiful passel of quilts you have there, in a lovely location too.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your photo shoot on the covered bridge! So many wonderful fall quilts! Must admit my fave is Sumptuous Stars:) Wonder why, lol! And I do like the way you draped your quilts on the sentinel statue. So clever!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day in the park. THANKS for sharing. I love the bridge and Ranger as backdrops.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU!!! I'm stuck in the office eating lunch at my desk and decided to roam...and there you were. NOW I spent my lunch hour in the park, walking through the leaves and looking at quilts. PERFECT!!!
ReplyDeleteLoved your photos!
ReplyDeletePictures of quilts taken outdoors in a beautiful setting is such a great idea! The heading of my blog has one taken in a park. That was a couple years ago and I haven't done it since. I need to get out and do it again. I might not be nervy enough to wrap a statute in a quilt, though.
ReplyDeleteSo much fun - thanks for the great quilt show AND sending hopes of cooler fall temperatures!
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat to see your gorgeous quilts in such a beautiful natural setting. Its truly the best of both worlds. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us!
ReplyDeleteYou don't know how much I love covered bridges. I have seen many, many of them over the years but never one with quilts displayed on it.
ReplyDeleteWow, Barb, what beautiful quilts and inspiring too and set in an inspirational setting. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts one and all and so much fun to see them displayed in the park and especially on the bridge. I love the Bird and bees quilt! The bee hive and the quilting are so kind of authentic to the real thing. Happy Fall to you, cheers!
ReplyDeletePicture perfect ~ such a stunning location for your beautiful quilts.
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous photos and beautiful settings. You are prayer than I, hanging them over water! I definitely would have been fishing out at least one. They are all wonderful but my favorites are the sweet little baskets and the Sumptuous Stars. I also have to note what fabulous backings you use. I have always used uninteresting muslin, maybe in an effort to save money, and not liking to seam backings (with fibromyalgia, I feel like the Princess and the Pea and have always been afraid I would feel the seams). However, seeing the huge difference in overall appearance when a patterned background is used, I think my next one will have a really pretty backing. I came to your blog from another and now will start with your current post and work my way back. We just lost our last true local quilt shop, aside from two which carry modern fabrics primarily, so unless I can find a really good online source, I will be making an 80 mile round trip to get to a shop. I wish you were in South Jersey. Your quilt group sounds great. I am just a few miles from New Hope, Pa and Lambertville, NJ. I take it Sumptuous Stars is in a book. Might you be able to point me to where I could find it? Thanks!
