I hope you all had a peaceful (and pieceful) holiday season.
I'm enjoying a bit of a blog break while my birds are in the nest. I look forward to catching up with all my blog friends and seeing what you are all up to.
My latest quilt was for my son's best friend, John. He was surprised and thrilled.
Based on the photo, the size fits him perfectly.
My pal, Mary, popped over on Christmas Eve for our traditional fruit cake snack and champagne toast. It was so great to see her and catch up.
I was welcomed home from Illinois by my blooming amaryllis. It's a beautiful pink! Thank you E for the lovely gift, it was well worth the wait.
This morning there were even more blooms. It is a double, which means I'll have 8 blossoms. What a lovely way to start out the year.
So now I'm wondering when the elves will come and pack christmas away.....good thing there is still a bottle of bubbly in the fridge to help me with the job this weekend :)
I'm working on my new long term applique project (not the Hawaiian as planned) and look forward to sharing it in my next post.
Happy New Year Sewing to you all.

Welcome Back and happy 2012!!
Even though we can only see John's eyes it is obvious there is a big smile on his face. What a special gift!
Your amaryllis is beautiful. So nice it was blooming for your return home.
Happy 2012 to you, too!
Oh how I love the quilt in the header. You make the best quilts!
Welcome back! Love your new header on the blog.
I agree with Karen, you make the best quilts! Happy new Year!
Your new header picture is incredible - I love it! If you find those elves can you send them over to my house too :0) It looks like your quilt was well received, he looks very happy with it.
What a wonderful quilt....Happy New Year to you as well.
Welcome home! I love your amaryllis, I am still waiting for mine, maybe Valentine's day???
What could your project be???
Oh my golly- that header stopped me my tracks- its amazing!!! Your amaryllis plant is so pretty, it's been flowering for ages now, it seems. Your sons friend looks happy with his quilt, I can tell he's got a big smile even though it's hidden by the quilt. A bottle if bubbly is a great idea to help put the decorations away, maybe some elves will help too.
Happy New Year, Barb! Anxious to see what you are up to:)
Happy 2012 to you. I got into some serious sewing time after my kiddos headed back to their homes. That was fun but then it was time to head back to work. It looks like the quilt made your son happy. My middle one asked me for "something blue" for his bed. I must get busy on that.
Happy New Year Barb! Looks like a fun quilt -- lucky, lucky son's friend. Can't wait to see your new project!
Happy new Year! Enjoy the last week of having the kids home! Love the quilt you made for your son's friend.
how special it must be to him and so nice of you to make.

yes, that young man is quite pleased with his gift~!!~
that amaryllis has more flowers on it than i've ever seen on one before~! must be a sign of a plentiful and beautiful new year coming your way~!!!!~
as for elves and bubbly . . . i think one or the other is probably best as i've heard through the grapevine that elves can't handle the bubbly too very well . . .
:-)
