FFF - Earthly Delights

Happy Friday!  Today I'm posting a few garden shots.  Overall it's been a tough year here in NJ with all the heat and drought.

Here are my front pots.  I went with a lime green and red scheme and for a foliage look instead of blooms.

This one is at the front door -

A pot of New Guinea Impatiens.  The impatiens I planted look horrible all leggy and sad - to much heat this year :(

Hydrangea bush seems happy -

Finally!  Here is the bird I watch for all summer.

I hung the humming bird feeder in May.  Nothing, zilch.  Then last Friday on a cloudy and rainy day, he came 8 times that I counted.  Yesterday he came again several times, it was also a cloudy, rainy day.

Thanks little hummingbird!  You have completed my summer bird feeding dreams!  Click here to see what a happened last year.

Have a fun filled weekend everyone.

  1. What a great selection for you pots, how much sun does it get? I need a new arrangement for next year.
We saw a hummingbird at dusk a few weeks ago and got very up close to it, I don't think he could see us. They are so amazing!

  2. Barb,
Your pots look so nice and healthy! My garden has some really hungry bugs. All of my potted plants have holes in them. And the bunnies, they chewed up my dahlias and other precious plants. Not a happy gardener this year :(
I loved that little birdie post and everything it stood for.

  3. Love your garden pics. Maybe there will be some nice fall weather and you'll get a longer fall season.
Hummer looks very happy to have found you.

  4. How fortunate for you to be able to hold the hummingbird and let it go. Wow...

I have been doing the same thing every year in my pots...next year need to switch it up. It is always fun to see others post of theirs. Thanks.

The quilt you made is one I have had in my unwritten bucket list for years. So glad to know at least someone made it. Now I can take my Post It note out of my book. ;D Yours is absolutely beautiful and the backing fabric is a perfect choice. Just gorgeous.

  5. Your pots are beautiful! Hummingbirds must just come later or something -- ours didn't show up until a few weeks ago either. Hubby had moved the birdfeeder and they were going to the old place so I made him move it back! Happy August!

  7. I just read in our morning paper that we can expect to see more migratory song birds in our backyards now, as they are gathering to begin their Fall migrations. They specifically mentioned hummingbirds and orioles.

  11. Coleus is so beautiful, and there ae so many varieties. Your pots look so pretty!
Saw a hummingbird last week flitting among the hostas in my backyard. It was a first for me. I'm not sure that they are so prevalent in the Midwest.
    Happy weekend to you!

  12. Wish my flowers looked as good as yours! I saw a hummingbird for only the third time in my entire life a couple of days ago. The temps are getting cooler and I'm so looking forward to fall and, hopefully, rain.
