The simple star is one of my favorite blocks. (I say that about a lot of blocks, don't I?).
Today I'm sharing a few of my quilts that feature this wonderful block.
My version of the antique "Evening Star" quilt.
Here is the original quilt from Summit New Jersey.
Close up of some of the stars. You can see the original expanded post here.
I made a smaller version for a life long friend who is avid gardener.
A small quilt from the NJ Heritage quilt book.
I used this block for 2 of the borders on my Remember Abe quilt. The small ones finish at 3 inches.
So, are you doing the Sewing Along? Do you think I should jump in? Maybe you can't have too many Star quilts!
I love sawtooth stars and thought about jumping in, too. No, I don't think you can have too many star quilts! You've shared such beauties!
ReplyDeleteThe quilts are beautiful and one of my favorite blocks! This QAL s right up your alley.
ReplyDeleteI am doing this SAL and having so much fun making stars each week. I decided to hand piece mine as I sit down to relax each night and watch whatever is on TV. They are a snap to get cut out and have ready to piece. Since my stash is organized by color, it is so easy to pull out fabrics for blocks.
ReplyDeleteOne can never have too many stars!
I love stars, especially this one! I jumped in late and I'm sure you can too! Won't take much to catch up at all.
ReplyDeleteYour stars are great on all of your quilts. I wasn't going too, but over the past couple of posts from Barbara B. have pulled me in.
ReplyDeleteFirst, congrats for your appearance in the B.Brackman's post !! I saw it :))
ReplyDeleteAnd no, I don't participate but I love this star.
And I confess that it's the first time I see a quilt with fruits and reproduction fabrics !! It's the Barb's signature ! But your quilt is so awesome ....bravo :)))
Love your quilts! I am having fun with these guys. Can't wait to see what everyone does with their stars.
ReplyDeleteI love your star quilts! I've made quite a few star quilts too :0) I've resisted this one so far. How about you??
ReplyDeleteThe Lincoln quilt is my favorite of the star quilts you show in this post. I have always liked this star pattern but am not participating in Barbara's sew-along.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful star quilts, Barb. I think you should jump in on the QuiltAlong :) You get to use lots of different fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI love it wen you do a show and tell of your quilts!! You are a star at making star quilts!! It would be a great quilt along to join in.
ReplyDeleteOh, your star quilts are so beautiful! Didn't know about the sew-along. I'll TRY to resist the temptation, but I'm popping over there to look at what's going on right now!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on having your quilt spotlighted on Barbara's blog. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteYour replica of Evening Star is spot on.
I'm not doing the star SAL, but it looks to me like you definitely should!
Oh! My! Stars! I love yours!! No wonder Barbara picked one of yours. Congratulation for being featured on Mrs. Brackman's blog. (No small feast!) I am not sewing along but following along (does that count?) I wish I had the fabric she shows and the time to sew all these gorgeous stars. ♥♥♥ your first quilt shown in this post. WOW I mean WWOOOOOOWW!!!

ReplyDeleteLove your star quilts! Yesterday I caved but I changed scale to 3" stars and sewed one by hand while watching TV last night. I have enough sewing machine projects going at the moment so this is a nice change. I have some catching up to do though! Hop in, you know you want to!

ReplyDeleteWhat's not to love about stars! Your quilts are fantastic - I'm especially biased toward your Lincoln quilt!
