Here are some flag quilts that I have and have made:
Flour Sack Flag
I love the eagle on this

This is a "Little Quilts" pattern.
What an epic label fail! I think I was intending to gift this little quilt and kept it for myself....I must have felt guilty. also the elvis print is upside down...or the label.
Here is my kitchen window dressed for the 4th through Labor Day. It features 2 wooden flag apples made by Susan McD.
A collection of my Presidential learning tools. I always wanted to be a Presidential Scholar.....still working on that.
A vintage hankie that I bought on Ebay
And I am finally sharing my Hall of Presidents.
Silhouettes of Martha and George.
Going the other way - you can see Janet's swap by the door.
I hung Janet's quilt here where I see it multiple times a day by the front door.
My front hall table area.
This was an incredible gift from Barbara S. You can read more about it here on her blog.
This bust and book was a giftMr. Lincoln standing sentinel on the hall landing.
My friend, Susan McD made me this winning little Presidents Quilt.
So here is the Hall of Presidents in panorama view in two parts:
Just in case this isn't enough you can see posts that feature Abe there is more here and here.
Some day I should honor President Madison, since like you know....I live in Madison which is named in his honor.
Happy Birthday America!

Another fun post :0) I love the vintage hankie. The feed sack is really cool as well - I make cornbread all the time.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - so many wonderful things to enjoy on your tour! I'm envious of your kitchen display space - what a great location to show off different collections! BTW, if you didn't listen to it during election season, I highly recommend the Presidential podcast from the Washington Post.
ReplyDeleteLovely Hall of Presidents--and beautiful flag quilts...thanks for sharing...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quilt show you put on. Love them all. So glad you shared. Hugs
ReplyDeleteHappy 6th, Barb and thanks for the tour of your beautiful home, dressed for the patriotic season. Your passion is inspirational! I especially like Mary's quilt and your "Little Quilt". Your willingness to share your mistakes is a good reminder that perfection is a myth and not worth striving for. There...I ended with a preposition. B)
ReplyDeleteThank you Betsy - I don't have your email but want you know that I really appreciate your nice comments!

Such a fabulous array of presidential deliciousness! My grandson would be proud of you! He has all the flash cards that you have, but I have never seen that electronic game. He doesn't do much spontaneous talking unless it involves the planets or the presidents! Your house is perfect for this wonderful display. Happy 6th!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun to see your 4th of July bounty. I especially love the Abe memorabilia, so fitting for someone from the Land of Lincoln.

ReplyDeleteI've loved every single detail in every single photo of the post!! Your presedents hankie might be the coolest hanky I've ever seen, and you know I love a good hankie.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tour of your beautiful and exquisite hall of Presidents! I can now see you being interviewed for a PBS special as a Presidential Scholar concerning the life and times of various U.S. Presidents!
ReplyDeleteWhat a feast for the eyes! Your Hall of Presidents is fabulous! Such fun seeing all the lovely patriotic gifts you've received and the quilts you made. Susan is SO talented! The vignette in your window is awe-inspiring! Great handkerchief, too. Happy 6th :)
