My God Jul quilt made for my Danish husband, Rich. He's my biggest supporter and the center of my world.
This is the view from our bed. My Nana had a ceramic tree and I've come to love them for their kitschy vintage aesthetic.
Here is my new Christmas Quilt for 2019.
Toile' the Night Before Christmas in our guest room.
This is always the Red and White Room so it works naturally for Christmas.
Little Mary Engelbreit houses I've had for years and a little red and white quilt.
I am cutting down on wrapping paper because it isn't great for the environment, so here is a cardboard box that just needed a little embellishment. The whole box can be saved for next year :)Here is an upcycle idea. I use Christmas cards that I receive as gift tags. I love to receive old fashioned cute cards and adorn packages with them.
A few little wooden things to decorate the windowsills.
Tin windup toys and another a red and white doll quilt.
Here is a little humorous moment in the kids/guest bathroom on another little quilt. "You'll Shoot your Eye Out Kid".......ha ha
Rich requested my Jubilee quilt for the eating area in our kitchen. I also like to layer tablecloths with vintage card tablecloths. This is a little sweet log cabin gift quilt from a friend in Illinois, Mary, made for me.
Another little log cabin doll quilt that I made years ago.
the backing print. I wish I had more of this one!
Because of Nutmeg, the new kitten, I did not put up my full Dickens Village, but opted for a mantel display this year. Here is a short video.
Here is a video tour of ornaments and bubble lights.
The magic tool that peels the rind so the fruit will dry. You can find them at gourmet cooking shops and also on the all powerful amazon.
I also use a nut cracking tool to poke little holes into the fruit. Remember Nut Bowls? It used to be a holiday tradition.
I use it make little holes to insert the whole cloves.
You can also just let the little peel swirls breath and insert cloves between the lines. This quiet old timey activity just makes me happy. This year I tried a little clementine.
I like this design which I used on a lime this year.
A few more Christmas moments from around our home.
the hall table~
My German Creche was a gift from my Mother in Law. I put the baby in on Christmas Day.
A collection of handmade Christmas Mice from our friends, Susan and Owen. Aren't they sweet?
I was so inspired by Kelly's post, that I made a mason jar vignette myself. I used pink Himalayan salt and kosher salt and a few vintage pieces.

I put it next to "my spot" where I have my Remembering Jill quilt on the table top.
I have a great view of the room from this seat. It is where I watch TV, stitch quilts and pass evenings.
From our home to yours, we wish you a very Blessed Holiday Season!

ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Your decorations are perfect and how wonderful to surround yourself with so many meaningful pieces.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful inspiration to wake up to this morning Barb. You put in lots of work and it shows it. Lots of love and lots of caring. I love the big tree don't ever give up the big tree. Please have a wonderful Christmas and a happy and healthy New year. Love you, Wendy

ReplyDeleteSo warm, inviting, and beautiful. Thank you for taking us on a tour. Have a very Merry Christmas and enjoy your time with family.
ReplyDeleteBarb, Your home is beautiful!! Your quilts are amazing- I am smitten with the tiny basket quilt. I had to laugh about your "big tree" comment. Our space is not big, and every year I tell my husband to try to buy a smaller tree! Sure enough- this year it touched the ceiling and we had to cut the top off! Finding the right tree is a tradition that he has with the grandkids.
ReplyDeleteYour spot in the home beside your Jill quilt is perfect.
Thanks for the tour!
Merry Christmas!
What a gorgeous Christmassy Home you have created! ;))) I also make pomanders...(thanks for the tool tip) I love how the aroma permeates the house...Hugs and Merry Christmas Julierose
ReplyDeleteI knew a visit to your holiday home would be sensational! I love every detail. What a fabulous decorator! I am now inspired to do some more decorating! And your tree should be in the Christmas Hall of Fame - it really is a giant!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty tour! I love all the red and that basket quilt is calling my name! I have not made pomanders for a long time! They do smell like Christmas! Your quilt from Jill is very special, a true treasure! Merry Christmas Barb!
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas decorations are the complete package. You have so many wonderful details all coming together. I think you got your wish for s "big" tree. It's beautiful. It has been fun to see each blog post with a common thread, but so uniquely their own. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI love your decorating, Barb, so many homemade and vintage items. I think i have some of those elves! Inherited from my mom's xmast decos. I also love the pomander idea. Must get one of those tools...
ReplyDeleteI wish I had room for a giant tree! it is gorgeous!! Love the videos you added to your blog. Thanks for being a part of this silly idea of a Favorites Blog hop!! Merry Christmas friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour of your home with all the lovely decorations! You really have a knack for a beautiful decor. I didn't decorate much at all because we are away for Christmas visiting 2 of our sons and their families, one in Kansas and one in Florida. But, when I do put up a tree I have some very vintage things and also a string of Norwegian flags as that is my heritage. I have a glow in the dark lion that my Dad gave me when I was around 8 years old that is treasured. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so inviting and beautiful. I'm afraid I'm one of those scrooges that does little decorating now. When we used to put up a tree it was always a big one. One year we couldn't get it in the door, another it was so tall we just cut the top off and it went right to the ceiling in between the beams. When my little niece came over she was so amazed...."Look Mommy aunt shirl's tree goes right through the ceiling!!" As a prank we saved the top and I decorated and put it in the middle of the floor of bedroom above so it looked like the tree went right through from downstairs. I took her upstairs to see the angel on top of the tree.It was so funny. Have a wonderful holiday!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a sweet Christmas memory :0) Shirl thanks for sharing it !
DeleteYour decorated home is beautiful---it allllllmost makes me want to haul out my decorations--lol! I think you need to do a post on your lamps too--you have some really interesting ones! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous BIG tree you have. I definitely have "tree envy" :-) Thanks for the tour showing so many of your lovely christmas treasures. Those little ceramic trees are special, I thought of my Mom as soon as I saw yours.

ReplyDeleteOh, what a beautiful Christmas house! Everything is just perfect! Especially love all your vintage items and that huge tree--wow! The Christmas mice from Susan are so sweet and Remembering Jill is a lovely tribute. I used to make pomanders and should give it another try some time. Love the way they smell! Merry Christmas, Barb!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tour with great Christmas quilts and decorations. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeletePerfection! I am available to be a foster child during the holidays and to get to soak up the joyous atmosphere. You are so very good at celebrating, no matter what the reason. Thanks for the lovely tour. ♥️

ReplyDeleteJoy and have a smile on my face. Xxxxx
Thank you Jocelyn xoxo
DeleteThank you for the peek at your beautiful home and holiday decorations. I love them all! I especially love that you make the pomanders. I always made them as a child for my grandmother. She loved them so much that for the 38 years that I taught elementary school, my class made them for local nursing homes. Now that my mom is gone, I still love to make one in her memory. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteHi Patricia - don't know you'll see this but thank you for the nice comments.
DeleteWhat a lovely pomander tradition you have. Thanks for sharing your story.
Merry Christmas
Love all your quilts and decorations!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely and festive home. Thanks for the tour!
ReplyDeleteYour post is so festive, I can't help but be filled with holiday spirit (as those packages that need wrapping AND mailing are staring at me...). Christmas and New Year's blessings to the Vedder clan and all your readers!
ReplyDeleteLove it all but your Toile' Night Before Christmas and your tree brought the most joyful memories to me. Thank you for sharing. You have a beautiful home.
ReplyDeleteThank you Janet! I know several Janet's and I wish I knew which one you are. In future can you add your last name initial so I can send you an email response. I appreciate your kind comment - Merry Christmas.
DeleteBarb what a treat. All my Christmas is up in Wisconsin. Literally. We never got back to take it down.
ReplyDeleteOne of the truly special things we have is from Bethlehem. My hubbies first corporate aircraft sales positions was with an Israeli company and the whole sales unit and spouses got to go over to the factory and tour the whole country. We were told that we needed yo look for a Crèche. We looked and looked then a local sidled up next to us and said he could show us the best made ones. We were a bit cautious but he was very polite. The vendor was tremendous. It folds up for storage and contains the whole scene. You would have loved it. Thanks for giving me a good Christmas fix. Florida is not as Christmassy for me...
Jane
Thank you for such a lovely holiday post. I LOVE the first quilt that you showed - what a beautiful thing to wake up to. And thank you too for the walk down memory lane - we made tons of pomanders when we were young and I had totally forgotten about them. Such a great scent throughout the house. And YAY for your BIG tree!!! In my mind, the bigger, the better. A very Merry Christmas to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful post! I just love your style! The German creche, the cute "Christmas Story" arrangement, your giant gorgeous tree... your guest room... on and on, every corner of your home says Christmas. The Pomanders look (and must smell) wonderful. Merry Christmas Barb!
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoy the Christmas tour-AND I always talk about our collections of Tomtens. This year I get to say I have the same poinsettia table cloth as on your DR table but unfortunately mine has a large 'vintage' hole! Happy New Year Barb! Susan
ReplyDeletesuch a stunning Christmas tree - your seat has a beautiful view of the room. Hoping you had a lovely Christmas with those you love.
