There were many lovely quilts and other needlework. My Pineapple also won a Special Ribbon. This was David's first time at the fair. Needless to say he loved it.
I got my flu shot this week. I figured since I'm teaching and lecturing at guilds in personal again it is a good idea. I am not qualified for a covid booster so this helps keep me healthy I hope.
Happy Fall ya'll! Soak up some homey feeling of autumn.

Congratulations on your ribbons, well deserved! Funny thing is when I see "Durham Fair" my mind immediately envisions a Renaissance fair, street dancers etc, lol!
ReplyDeleteGreat post today! I love fairs, and seeing your post made me feel like I was there! Your daughter has best smile! Congrats on your ribbons, I'd love to see your quilts in person some day and take an applique class from you. I love applique quilts but hand applique is difficult for me to do well. I got both shots last weekened, one in each arm! Stay well!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your ribbon - well deserved!!
ReplyDeleteLoved all the fair pictures. It took me back to my childhood visiting the Wisconsin State Fair, and later, the Pinellas County (FL) Fair. Good memories!
Good on you for getting your flu shot, I've heard the public health folks are worried this could be a big year for influenza illness. Stay healthy!
Congratulations on your award winning quilts, Barb. SEW exciting!!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all--CONGRATS on your well-deserved ribbons! So happy to see you get the recognition you deserve for your creativity and workmanship.
ReplyDeleteThis post makes me nostalgic for the one fall country fair I have attended in New England, several years ago. It was so much more enjoyable than our local fairs. But I can't eat any of that lovely fried fair food. I do love a good ox pull, frying pan throw, tractor pull, or several other of the unique activities we never have around here. Thanks for stirring up those fond memories. Looks like you had a delightful time!
Congratulations on your ribbons. Looks like there was a tough competition. That blue hand-pieced quilt is something else too. But you got a ribbon too, yeah! The pictures of the fair are so nice. I missed the fairs or fairs were cancelled this year again, so I miss it. It was nice visiting one with you ... and David! Enjoy! ;^)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love a fair too! Though I've attended both good and not-so-good fairs. Nothing beats the Iowa State Fair, and I miss it so much! It's in the book of top 100 things to do before you die... it's THAT great! So your pictures make me reminisce. Congratulations on your ribbon! That's wonderful too, and I miss entering my quilts in the Iowa State Fair. Did I mention how much I love that fair?! :-) Ya know, I've never had a flu shot. I've always had GPs who have been ambivalent about them, so I trusting them. Have fun teaching again!

Beautiful quilt show, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVery fun and so well deserved, your ribbons! You make fairs look amazing and to my chagrin I will admit to only going to one or two in my lifetime! I need to rethink that when we return to the US, and keep state fairs on my radar!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your wins! So well deserved. Looks like a fabulous fair.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on those ribbons .... so well deserved!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a fabulous fair! Love that your quilts were awarded ribbons, Barb! Way to go! Those little piglets are so cute :)
