Twist and Pout!!

This week I finished the first quilt made here in Connecticut.

Introducing:  Twist and Pout.

I've added Swarovski crystals in pink, rhinestone and black jet - they are hard to see in a photo.

I used my favorite cable border stencil -

I started this quilt at my September retreat, you can see some of the blocks here.

If it looks a bit familiar, it is made with the same technique as my Passage to India Quilt.
I set up my banquet table for pin basting in the family room so I could watch TV.   If only coco had thumbs!  She really makes herself comfortable, doesn't she?

I used some left over large pieces of batting and used this fusible tape.  It is awesome!

TIP: overlap the pieces of batting by about 3 inches.  Cut through all layers, then remove the extra pieces.  Your seam will match perfectly.  I think this is an wallpaper trick.

It stays soft but holds strong.

Here is the label I made.  This little mad baby just cracks me up!

I used skeleton toile' that I had in the closet - perfect for this project!

My friend, Susan,  made a 4 patch posie with the white version of this same print.   Our quilts will be in a special exhibit at the Brownstone Quilt Show, November 8th & 9th.  Click here to link to our website.

Hope you are having a great week -

I love using up pieces of batting with the fusible tape, but never thought of overlapping the pieces and cutting out the underneath piece to get a perfect seam. Thanks. Your Twist and Pout is just too cute.

I would never have thought if using that Ghastlies fabric but it works so well! I love the flashes of pink throughout. I can just imagine how pretty the crystals look when they sparkle in the light. Have you got a wall in mind to hang your Twist and Pout quilt?

Twist and Pout--such a great name! And the label baby is perfect. : )
Where in the world did you ever find skeleton toile? What a hoot!

I love how that came out. The blocks are so much fun to look at. And of course the fabric is amazing to begin with. The backing and the label perfect for the quilt!!! Happy Halloween

Interesting how your theme fabric sewed up into such an interesting quilt when you put matching sections together. And luxury with the crystals.

I love this quilt! The fabric, the label all is very much like YOU! Funny and fun! It has that improve quality to it, which is ironic since the block requires fussy cutting! Great fabric choice.
First finished quilt of CT... I like that!

What a hoot that green fabric is! I love that you used it in the border so you can see what you started with. May there be many, many more quilts made in Connecticut!! Happy Halloween!!

This quilt is one of the most unique, interesting versions of the 4-patch posie pattern that I've ever seen. When I made my first one, we were told to choose a fabric without big empty spaces. Well, that's exactly what the green Ghastlies fabric has, and look how dramatic and GREAT each block is. Barb, you have a wonderful eye for using fabrics in a creative, "I wouldn't have thought of that" way.
The backing is a perfect choice, and who wouldn't love that label? Wow! this quilt has it all.

Absolutely BOOtiful! I love what you did with the asymmetrical borders and the quilting. Your Passage to India is wonderful too! You've put this technique on my list. Thanks for the tip about the batting tape. I'd never heard of it.

i love seeing both this newest quilt and your 'Passage to India' together as they are so different from each other in color and mood and yet use the same pattern idea. are you bored with this pattern now or will there be a series of these . . .
'Twist and Pout' is wonderfully fun and the fabric choices all work together very well~!
it's so interesting to see the various patterns created within those blocks. it must have been fun to put together too.

Coco definitely looks comfortable.

Great quilt, very different for you. I bet it looks very different up close. Haven't tried the tape, did you hand quilt thru it?

Love your quilt and the Ghastlies fabric. I have some of that somewhere. I've enjoyed watching your move. We are in the middle of getting our house ready and so much of my sewing room is in storage it is hard to do a lot. Your fall decorations are gorgeous, too!

Congrats on your first finish in your new home! What a fun quilt - love the fabric combo. Interesting to compare it to Passage to India. It's all about the fabric! I agree, that fusible tape is awesome.
