Gone to the Dogs Thanksgiving

YaY!
I finished the center section of my basket quilt project.
If you're wondering how this goes together; the answer is not easily.
There are partial seams and by that I mean, I sew it wrong, rip out out and then do it right
That is my process.   I also make notes.  I'm very visual and this works for me.
My Thanksgiving was wonderful even though I wasn't feeling well.  I've been battling a horrid cold/sinus infection.  Luckily we had low key plans.

coco made sure that my wonderful son, Andrew, basted the turkey just right.
I watched the dog show which is my favorite thing to do on Thanksgiving - besides eat.
My fabulous husband even went to the basement and got the Turkey dinnerware.  I went to attic and got 1 turkey of our collection.
Sometimes less really is more.  I was Thankful for our day together and having my boys make a wonderful dinner for us.

coco enjoyed her special annual dinner, after all she did mind the turkey.
I finished a sewing project for my friend, Diane.  I sent her LAQ a package with all the makes of a beautiful quilt.
That is a lot of binding!
My other major accomplishment is finishing this challenging puzzle.
And lastly, I finally found a pair of deer for my home here on Buck Hill Rd.

I love that they blend in during the day
I got them at Lowe's.  They were display models, so I got a bonus discount - oh yeah.
and really dazzle at night.  I keep peeking out of the kitchen/laundry window to admire them :)
I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving and enjoy the preparations of the Holiday Season.

2017 BSQ Quilt Show - Part 2

Hello~
I'm back to share quilts from the Brownstown Guild Challenge:  Home Sweet Home.  The challenge was to create the home of a famous person or a famous home.

Here were some of my favorites~
Here are some others.  They were all so creative and wonderful!  A great challenge theme.
And here are the 5 quilts that entered into 4 categories.  I competed against myself in the pieced/machine quilted category.   The judges were very very generous!
Alice Payne
Snowflower and Secret Fan
Just Keep Swimming
All Cooped Up
Sumptuous Stars
At the end of October my Alice Payne quilt competed as a CT Fair finalist at a banquet.   I won First Place Applique/Hand Quilted.  It was a thrill and honor.
yikes, that is enough bragging already!

I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving.  I have much to be Thankful which includes my friends who read FWB.  Thank you for your friendship, support and encouragement.

2017 BSQ Show - Part I

Hello there.  It's been a busy couple of weeks but I'm back to share quilts from the Brownstone Quilt Show 2017 Show.

The quilts are followed by their info cards.  I did a bad job taking these phone photos. I even missed a couple sorry about that.

on with the show....
This is a charming quilt that is perfectly made, but was hanging badly when I took this - I am sure it was fixed before showtime.
Whoops, I didn't get the card - this is Norma's selvage quilt above.
I this this is Gentle Thoughts by Maureen (let me know if I'm wrong).

Isn't this a great action shot of hanging some of the smaller quilts?  The are hanging quilt on the opposite side at the moment, lol.
Today I shared quilts made by friends and members.   I posted mine on FB and Instagram and will also post them here next week (just for my record).
I haven't had time to get back to my baskets - but I have picked a few more bow tie blocks to go with them.

See you next week with more quilt show photos.
