Merry and Bright!

Popping in to to wish everyone a Very Merry and Peaceful Christmas!

I especially want to thank everyone for the support and friendship during this year.  It was a big year with the move and getting settled and I really appreciate all my blog readers and friends and their comments.

Well, as they say "Christmas is coming whether you are ready or not....."    In the past few days I've managed to pull it mostly together.

a little tree for the basement -

David Copperfield's area of the Dickens Village.

the rest of the village -

The Amaryllis bloomed :)

A real tree in the family room for the first time in at least 4 years.

 The Snowman's hood-

And new for this year - all my bird and bird related ornaments on a garland above the sink.

The real ones come to the feeder on the deck and in the yard -

I mixed real branches with the fake ones.  The birds are all living happily together.

My little coco turns 4 on Christmas Day!  Here she is when she was 8 weeks old :)

I'm wishing you all a wonderful Holiday Season!  I'm hoping to have a little more sewing in the blog in 2014.

See you next year -

Playing House

Happy Friday!  Photo Heavy - Quilt Lite

Whew, its been a busy couple of weeks.  I'm stopping in to journal the recent painting and some early Christmas decorating here at the new house.

Alice Payne looks right at home on my sage green kitchen walls.

This is Nantucket Gray, a color I borrowed from my friend, Diane.

Back hall/laundry/bath.

I was inspired by Mad Men for Mr. Fun's office (man cave).  It has a mid-century look in there.  It's only modern touch in our home.

It is Valley Forge Gray, but looks a bit green in this next photo.

Abe Lincoln commands the Hall.

He looks good coming and going -

New garland on the staircase (thanks Home Depot).

The Foyer ledge is my least favorite feature of this house, but I do like having a Christmas tree there.  Thanks Home Depot - again - pre-lit and potted and I had a coupon!  This is the view leaving my sewing room.

And here's my little White House Ornamented tree in the Living Room.  I love this color, Georgetown Pink Beige.

If you are still with me, here is a little Fun For Friday -

In the immortal words of P. T. Barnum "There's a sucker born every minute".  Often that means me.  Couldn't resist these Kleenex houses.

Happy Hanukkah, Diwali, Kwanza and Christmas decorating.

Color My World!

Popping in for a "Hot Flash" update.

My little sparrow has flown into the project

Aren't they Cheeky?

Here are my first four blocks -

Here are Susan's blocks.  I love the shape of her flower.

We put them on the design board together.  They don't look as bad as I thought they would!

Hooray for Color!  The painting crew started yesterday.  It sounds and smells like progress!  Coco and I are sequestered in the basement together.  Mr. V and I usually do our own, but didn't have the ladders for this house.

I can't wait to have some color in my home!  Here are my master color lists.

Hope you are having a great (and colorful) week!

Brownstone Quilt Show 2013 - Part 2

Happy Friday!

I won this wonderful little quilt at the mini auction.  It is hand quilted and the perfect size for a couple of candle sticks.

Here are some views of our special Red & White exhibit -

My favorite is my good friend, Norma's.   Isn't it jolly!!

We had a  4-Patch Posie, One Block Wonder and Stack and Whack exhibit.  All of these quilts start with layering and cutting blocks out of 1 fabric, and reassembling into a totally different looking fabric.

Norma is the queen of the 4-patch posie.  Here are 2 of hers.

Isn't Pauline's OBW stunning?

This is Pauline's too call "Look at me Now".  It was made from a panel print with a beautiful bird.

The bird is at the top of the panel and I couldn't get it - sorry.

The next two are made by Kathi Kruk with a scull and rose fabric in 2 color ways.  I absolutely love these!

Susan H made a 4 patch posie from the Ghastlie fabric that I used with a white background.

Our raffle quilt and the second place runner -

Brownstone Quilt Show 2013 - Part 1

Presenting some of my favorite (and by no means all) quilts from our recent guild quilt show -

Enjoy!

Best use of Color and Viewers Choice went to my friend, Elizabeth.  Congratulations!

My sewing buddy Susan H won a first place in Pieced Bed!

This was a presidents quilt that guild members made.  Mine is a pink one.

Hope you enjoyed these beautiful quilts!

See you soon for part 2
