Wednesday Wonders

Yay!  I put my recently finished quilt: Sumptuous Stars in Andrew and Sigs room and it fit perfectly!  Since it was EPP and all hand whipped it is for "show only" sorry kids.
I also finished quilting my 6th block on the Alice Payne quilt.  I am always amazed at how the quilting makes a quilt come to life.

Wow!  What a wonderful show from the Northern Star Quilters!  Which is your favorite?
Amazing Job to all the ladies who organized and shared their quilts!

Mr. Starbuck is judging me.  I can feel it at the sewing machine.
Why is he standing in the ONE messy spot of the sewing room?
okay, okay I'll clean this up today!

I'll be back soon with a Westering Women post with a yummy cake recipe.

Oh!  One last thing......
xo

Wow that must have been quite the show! The pictures you've shared are wonderful. I like the first one the best - the flying geese border is fabulous. Your star quilt looks beautiful on the bed. Cake and quilting - I look forward to your next post :0)

Sumptuous Stars is STUNNING! I love it! Congrats on this beauty. Great job on the Alice Payne too. Northern Star quilt show is so awesome. My favourite would be Storm at Sea because I just love Storm at Sea quilts but My Baltimore Journey and My Happy Quilt are seconds. Is the Muncy Compass hand quilted? It is gorgeous too. Thanks for sharing Barb. ;^)

The show quilts are wonderful BUT it was YOUR quilts that knocked my socks off! Loved them ALL!! Your work is blue ribbon all the way!!

I love Western Sun, so nice a scrappy! You have such dedication to your hand quilting, I very much admire you for it! Sumptuous Stars is beautiful and I would not let anyone sleep under it either!

Your quilts are stupendous! I have some "just for show" that my Mom made me.
Of the "show quilts" I can't decide between the first three.

I agree with your comment about how the quilting changes the entire quilt. Even quilts that I'm kind of on the fence about, I end up loving once the quilting and binding are on. Love the "Western Sun" quilt....all those flying geese! Tammy - High River, AB

Love your quilt. It looks lovely on the bed. Some quilts are just for show and that's okay. The quilts are the show are exquisite. Each of the ones you shared would be in your category as well, just for show, no sleeping under.

Always enjoy the miracle of quilting, just amazes me each time. Although that Baltimore is stunning and oh so much work, I have to vote for the compass quilt. I guess I need to make one someday as they always catch my eye.

Your star quilt looks beautiful on the bed! And the quilt show looks wonderful -- so much inspiration. I think my favorites are My Happy Quilt and My Baltimore Journey. They're all beautiful though!

Your star quilt is just lovely on the bed. I have several just for show quilts although I suspect when they are passed on they will be used. Your hand quilting on the Alice Payne quilt is wonderful as is the hand quilting in your blog header. Love the show pictures and it’s impossible for me to choose a favorite as they are all beautiful.

Oh that looks so pretty on the bed! I don't think they will mind sleeping under something less ornate. It is amazing how the texture of the quilting brings a quilt to life and Alice is looking wonderful! Thank you for sharing the show quilts. I cannot chose a favorite. Happy Cinco de Mayo and belated "Star Wars Day".

Your quilt looks beautiful on the bed ! Alice quilting is looking great. As to a favorite they are all beautiful and normally I'll always go for the applique as a favorite but in this case I pick "Welcome Happy Morning " with it's beautiful colors and design>

Your "Sumptuous Stars" quilt looks so great on the bed! Yahoo! Your Alice Payne is looking perfect with its diagonal quilting--a nice simple finish to show off the appliqué. Thanks for showing the show quilts. Very inspiring!

Sumptuous Stars is just gorgeous! Congratulations on such a wonderful finish! Your hand quilting is looking beautiful! I have a book titled " Quilting Makes the Quilt" that is so true. All the show quilt are stunning! But I love the Western Star, because of its scrappiness and My Baltimore Journey , because of the applique. Please don't let Mr. Starbuck come to my house!

I really can't choose a favorite, but "My Happy Quilt" is definitely eye-catching thanks to its unique design! Sumptuous Stars looks wonderful on the bed - the light seems to make it glow!

The Baltimore gets my vote though the red and white applique quilt is a close second.
So nice to see your one messy spot. It sure is a lot neater than any part of my sewing room.

Hahaha - thanks for sharing the pun; I hadn't seen it before. I hope Mr. Starbuck cannot see my sewing room at the moment; thankfully my cats don't pass judgement - or is that what they're doing when they look out the window all the time, turning their backs to the stuff in the room???

What lovely quilts from the show. The Mariner's Compass is especially inspiring to me; I have the perfect group of fabrics already gathered, waiting to be made into its sister.

By some lucky happenstance I found your blog just now to see that you featured my two quilts from the NSQG show that was held last weekend. Thank you for liking my quilts. You just made me so happy!

Yes Barb, I did check back...just wanted to add after I replied lasy night I thought that your name was familier...and sure enough! I have one of your patterns in my "want to do" basket...it is a small world! Also, I love the berries center medallion you started. Are you doing the "medallion quilt along" that Lori, of Humble Quilts, just started? I have been thinking of starting it and after seeing your wonderful center I want to give myself a challenge and start one! So, thank you for that!

Can't make up my mind which quilt I love most from the Northern Star Show. They were all AMAZING!! I'm in AWE. Love Andrew's Star quilt. It looks great with the Sock Monkeys.
Love the Center Medallion Quilt you posted with all the left over berries.
And before I forget..Happy Mother's Day.

I started before I knew anything about their sew along. I already have my borders planned out as I'm using some leftover blocks. Join their sewalong - or better yet - do your own thing like me :)

Why of course the FRIENDS OF BALTIMORE quilt is my favorite. I am working on block #7 of 16 and it was nice to see the photo you shared. I will be back to zoom in on it…..for study. I see peeking out from the edge of the photo a bunch of ribbons. Would be interesting to know how long it took her to finish it.

So glad to see all your quilty progress too. Your Alice Payne will be FABULOUS when all gussied up with the quilting!
