I try so hard to remember to photograph the card, but I missed this - here is what it said:

"Inspired by an antique quilt in Kaffe Fassett's "Museum Quilts".  I was particularly taken with the mirror imaging of the fabrics in the diamond blocks and the applique' strips separating the blocks.   Hand Quilted.

Christine's work is always lovely and so is she.  Congratulations.

This was my favorite quilt so fresh and fun!  Pineapple of my Life.

The card said:  This quilt was primarily made during the snowstorms of 2015.  Every block tells the viewer something about me:  where I lived, my love of sewing, hippos, foods and peas.

Halloween block.  What an incredible use of low volume prints.

I was incredibly honored to receive a Blue Ribbon and Best Hand Quilting.   A life goal!  (sorry, cel phone photo)

Can I share that one of my goals is to receive a Purple Ribbon of Exception Merit?  You need a combined average of 98 points from 3 judges.  I've missed it by 1 point, not once but twice.   Still on the goal list.

I spotted these 2 women discussing it and have the opportunity to chat with them.

I missed the card again - this is two sided quilt - and was a delight to study front and back.

My friend and roommate won a Yellow Ribbon - first time entering a big show - Congrats Norma.

I've come home very inspired.....tired, but inspired.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

AQS had a great show in Lancaster.  I think it is the highest quality of quilts on display so far.  They don't allow photos to be shared on social media but click the image below to see the winners.

I was one of the many non winners at show and proud to be among them I can tell you!  There were so many stunning traditional quilts and some incredible art quilts too.

My friend Betsy took this silly photo of me at the end of the day.  My favorite part?  Jumping the white chain to get near my quilt.   What can they do?  It's mine, lol.

I've been working on my workshop samples for my Hex Vex class next month in NJ.  Here are a few:

On a previous post a few readers (who were non-reply) asked about what I call my baby head fabric.  Jill and I bought it in several different colors because we just loved it.   I've had it for years and I'm not sure if you can still get it.

 Here is the selvage with the information.

I saw a new bird!  I have a very casual life list going and I had to look this fellow up in my field guide.

He is a Pine Siskin. In this last photo he was on to me and flew away.  Thanks for having lunch at my house Mr. Striped Handsomeness.

And this one is for Mary who always asks about coco.  She has weathered her week at dog camp (I call it dog jail) very well.  Too well, in fact.   After picking her up, she was 'over us' within the hour.

I wish she could learn to take it easy!  Have a great St. Patrick's Day.  Don't drink to much Green Beer :)

Birthday Blessings and a Miss

Well, my 52 Birthday has come and gone and I'm still not finished with my Jubilee Quilt.  You would think after such a horrid winter I would have had the time to finish this.   I first blogged about it here.

I have almost 2 of the borders finished.  It is amazing how different it looks quilted.

I received another antique quilt from my dear friend, Mary (this makes four!).   I love half square triangles and I'm thrilled to have this beauty.

It contains lots of interesting shirtings and stripes and plaids.

Mary Pat sent me this fabulous Nancy Drew Fabric - I love it!  

How cute - the selvage bubbles are her silhouette.

And finally this special gift from Jill.  She finished and sent it in April with the help of her sister-in-law, MJ.  I was away when she mailed it and she had passed away when I picked it up at the Post Office.  It was such an amazing surprise.

This pincushion has everything I love; toile', birds, pink, house, hand stitching, hexies....It is just perfect in every way.

Jill and I exchanged many gifts over the years.  This one will have to last the rest of my life.  I'll cherish it.  A gift so special it broke my heart a little.
