Hooray for Spring!

What am I doing with my time?  Spring stuff, I guess.

I posted this quilt on IG recently.  It is a fan quilt that I made Hanna when she was three years old. (1996)  Each fan has a different color story or theme.

  I has a cute backing and I machine quilted it.  It has held up nicely!

Well, taxes are done and I also audited all our old tax files.  This led to lots of shredding.

The shredded actually starting smoking at one point.

I made a lemon cake to take guild.  I forget how good a simple bundt cake can be.

I also baked a Red Velvet Birthday Cake for  my son, Andrew.

My nephew, Nick,  was visiting from Colorado to help celebrate.  Three Vedder guys. 

I potted some pansies.

I saw this adorable photo on FB of my baby quilt in use!

I hope you all had a Happy Passover or Happy Easter.  It was a joy to attend Easter Service after three long years.   After the church the bells in  tower rang out for a full 10 minutes and it was glorious!

Signs of Spring!

Hooray -
The Brownstone Quilters Raffle Quilt is finished.  Okay, I still have to make a label and get the photos printed, but it's quilted, bound and has a hanging sleeve.

A guild member, Cheryl, quilted it for us.  I love the patterns she used.  Thanks to Pauline's fabulous machines, it washed up beautifully and the drape is wonderful.

I have to get photos printed and I can't really tell which is better;

A few months ago I was asked to help my local historical museum with their coverlet and quilts collection.  Tomorrow I will drop off the Documentation Books - whew.  I created documentation for 34 coverlets and quilts.  (I smudged out the names on the front, looks dirty, but isn't).

This weekend is the Quilt Fest of New Jersey.  My quilt, "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious", was selected to be part of the show.  I dropped it off this morning the gentleman taking in quilts got a real chuckle out of the title.  I'll be around the show on Saturday.   Say hello if you see me, or hello to my quilt if you see it. 

Surely spring is coming.  Today I heard a robin while sipping my coffee, then later saw one while walking coco.  I also found these crocus sprouts under the leaves.

I know it's going to get cold tomorrow, but the sunshine was wonderful today and spring is definitely on it's way - and not soon enough for me and coco.

Thinking Spring

The groundhog says that spring is coming.  I have seen the signs.  It is light out until 5:00 pm and this morning I heard birds chirping and coco didn't just sit on the back steps, she laid down.

I hosted a sew day last week and my friend, Pauline, brought me this lovely yellow primrose.  I popped it into an empty tea tin for a instant little display.

We decided to get together and make this "pin minder".

It's from a book called "Bird in Hand" by Renee' Plain.  It has wonderful projects.

Here are the leaves and berries, cut from hand dyed wools.

We had a wonderfully sunny day to work.

We each completed the cylinder part and we'll get together again to finish it up.  Isn't it funny how with the same pattern they each have their own little personalities?

From the top it's mine, middle is Susan's and Pauline's is the red bird.  She is originally from South Africa and finds the Cardinal amazing when she sees them at my feeder.

I'm currently working on 2 challenge quilts and a doll quilt swap, so I can not share those at the moment.   I'm finishing up marking my Abe Lincoln quilt and hope to start machine quilting it this week.  I've chosen a different design for each round.
