Red & White - Sweet Dreams

Happy Tuesday!

I've always wanted a red and white guest bedroom and now I have one!

The embroidered penny square quilt is an antique I bought in Pennsylvania.  I made the red work pillow of our cat, Starbuck.  The other 2 quilts are signature quilts.

On the night stand is a quilt from Janet of Quiltsalott from doll quilt swap and some darning eggs in case guests or Andrew and Sig (who use this room the most) want to darn some socks.

In the corner on a red high chair sits our beloved Fred T. Bear (T stands for the "the").  He is a puppet bear.  The window toppers and bedskirt I found on ebay - hooray.

On the other night stand is a quilt I bought on the AAQI website and was made by my friend Lori of Humble Quilts.

I'm really happy with the way it turned out and just may have to sleep in there soon to try it all out.

Last week I went to my guild in NJ, The Brownstone Quilters.  They had a Red & White Challenge last year and here are some of the quilts.

Aren't they terrific?

This is my friend, Pauline's -

There will be a special exhibit and will include my School House quilt at the Quilt Show in
 October.

Hope you are having a great week!

I love your red and white guest room. What a great way to showcase these quilts. How thoughtful of you to provide darning eggs for your guests. :0) It looks like there's also some fabulous late night reading material in there too! That NY exhibit sure sparked a lot of wonderful quilts.

What a wonderful welcoming room. It's good to see big teddy is watching over and making sure all those beautiful red and white quilts are safe and sound. I love the little doll quilts made by Janet and Lori.

Perfect guest room!
Are there blinds under the window toppers so it will be good and dark in there for your guests?
Lovely room, nicely done Barb!

I have everything I need to make a red and white winding ways quilt.....might be my winter project this year.

Happy Sewing

Your guest room is fantastic! Any guest would be lucky to stay there and even get to darn socks there. I do love the red and white quilts. We had a two color quilt challenge at my guild meeting and there were a few red and white quilts which I loved. I guess I should add it to my list as I don't have one!

Are you going to keep your schoolhouse quilt in your R&W room? It's beautiful -- I love R&W. I'd love to have a Blue and White room too. Oh, and I have a few socks I can send so that Andrew and Sig can get some practice!
