Hooray! My first big finish (top) for 2014. This is a quilt for my daughter Hanna's bedroom. It's not really 50 shades of lavender, but I couldn't resist naming it that.
You can see by my boot prints that we got lots of snow, about 8 inches. I'm working on a quilting plan with variegated purple thread and a gorgeous backing fabric.
Here is a view of the 8" of snow on the deck early this morning.
I love when the snow looks blue in the early morning. Coco is making a serious inspection of it.
Hmm......
A good batch - I'm planning to do a little snow shoeing later with this wild animal.
Jubilee quilt update - I've nearly finished the whole center portion!
You can see it better on the back. I'm always amazed how different the quilted areas look and feel.
I've posted more photos and information on The Jubilee Quilt blog.
I've got lots of new ideas and projects percolating and hope to be posting more in the future. Time seems to be flying by lately!

Love how you arranged the different shades in this striking pattern. It will really come alive with your quilting.
We got about 5 inches of wonderful powdery snow. Dogs add an extra element of fun. Snow shoeing sounds like fun.
Heading over to the jubliee blog...
Oh WOW Barb -- your Jubilee quilt is BEAUTIFUL! The quilting is stunning -- what a lot of work! I love the zig zag quilt too -- and I'll bet Hanna will think it's perfect.
A few more snow days and you'll have even more done. Your Juliblee quilt is stunning. And Hannah's is super fun.
50 shades of lavender!!! It's beautiful! I love zigzag quilts. This one looks like a fun way to make it. Did you use hsts? Snow is a good thing for us quilters. I love cozying up inside and put all the energy in the kitchen cooking warm meals and sewing quilts. Your hand quilting on the Jubilee quilt looks stunning! So much stitching!! I am amazed! Have a good time snowshoeing with that wild thing :0
Hurrah for your Jubilee quilt!! The texture looks marvelous and I bet it feels wonderful! I love how the stuffed berries look puffy on the back too. I like your 50 shades of Lavender - I look forward to seeing how you quilt it. What is it about a new year that makes you want to start new projects?? :0) I have stacks of stuff pulled out all over my sewing table but can't decide on what I want to start. The only part that's easy is deciding I want to start something new.
I'm really loving the 50 shades and I'm not even that fond of purple! I know you'll bring out the best with your quilting too.
Wow! You are making great progress on the jubilee quilt. Way to keep focused!!
50 Shades of Lavender, great name. I wonder how you will quilt it? Hand or machine?
A walk in the snow on a sunny day sounds good except for the wind, have fun!
Your Jubilee quilt is amazing I am very impressed with your hand quilting, my hat is off to you!
Woo-hoo! Love your daughter's quilt. I assume she likes lavender! I'll look forward to seeing how you quilt it, as I'm also thinking about a quilting plan for an old zigzag top. Your Jubilee quilt is really the jaw-dropper for me. Your tiny stitches, the density of the quilting, your impeccable appliqué--all just fantastic!
What a beautiful post! Everything about it is gorgeous, quilts, snow, Coco and the quilting, wow!
What a great chevron quilt! I haven't jumped on the chevron bandwagon, but 50 shades of lavender would get me there!!
Your Jubilee quilt is looking absolutely incredible! What an undertaking. You are doing some pretty dense hand quilting, and it looks gorgeous. That will be a family heirloom, for sure!
Jubilee quilt is looking beyond awesome. What an heirloom it is. You just can't beat hand quilting on muslin! Hanna's quilt is just perfect for a young lady's bedroom, love it. Can't wait to see what wild backing fabric you will surprise us with. Enjoy your snowshoeing exercise with Coco. XOX
The photo of Coco made me giggle out loud! Love the snow on her nose. Oh, and the quilts are gorgeous too. :)
Your Jubilee is looking fabulous, Barb! The quilting and the applique are perfect mates.
Coco - you're a stitch! Chuckling over the snowy face....
I'm looking forward to seeing more of the 50 Shades - backing and quilting!
50 Shades of Lavender is such a fun name for such a fabulous quilt!! I got a shock when I realised it was outside on the snow, but what a great backdrop. We never get magical snow like that where I live so it's wonderful to see photos of it. Especially of Coco powdering her nose with it. And it would the perfect weather for being inside and quilting your Jubilee Quilt which is looking so beautiful!!
Jubilee is just stunning! And the lavender top looks wonderful out there on the snow - look forward to following this one. Two such very different projects!
By the way, I do just love your header - have you any more photos of that one?

Your Jubilee quilt is so gorgeous. I LOVE the texture you're creating with the stitching! Your 50 Shades of Lavender is wonderful too--very striking and somewhat modern.:)
50 Shades of Lavender is a beauty... and I'm not even that fond of the purple family!
I'm staring in awe at your Jubilee quilt... oh my!!!
Hanna's lavender quilt looks great. And your Jubilee quilt....the quilting is exquisite! I can't wait to see it in person.
Your daughter's 50 shades of lavender reminds me of the Ripple crocheted afghans from the sixties. I can't wait to see what some quilting will do to it. Your Jubliee quilt is stunning, I love how quilting magically changes a quilt, nothing better.
50 Shades looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing how you quilt it.
Coco obviously enjoys the snow from the look of it.
Hanna's quilt is beautiful! Your jubilee quilt is stunning - so nice to see all that beautiful hand quilting. What a treasure. Fun to see Coco in the snow.
50 shades of lavendar is beautiful. And a fun name as well. Looks like lots of new snow. I am tired of the snow and cold. I hope we see a nd early spring.
The jubilee quilt is gorgeous!
Your quilting is amazing! Congrats on the top finish. Look at all that snow!! It's hot here! I shall gaze at these pictures next week when we head up to the high 30'sC.
that is a lot of snow. I thought your quilt top was chevron crochet afghan at first. very pretty
The snow on the table looks like a fitted table cloth.
Your Jubilee quilt is gorgeous. The quilting is bringing it all to life. You can be proud of what you have accomplished.
i'm so glad that you have Coco to inspect the snow for you~! all eight inches of it~!!
you are really coming along on your jubilee quilt and it inspires me to keep stitching away on mine.
your 50 shades of Lavender quilt is pretty. i've noticed that i'm very drawn to purples lately . . . especially periwinkle.

Hanna's quilt is going to be gorgeous-good luck with the quilting. Your Jubilee is coming along - I'm also inching along on mine. Happy stitching - stay warm.
Every time I see the quilt in your header, I want to make one like it! Of course, I want to make most of your projects including the 50 Shades of Lavendar and Jubilee Quilt projects. We've had a little snow but I'm so glad we didn't get 8 inches!
Oh my... your quilting is gorgeous! And you are making great progress... looks like your goal of June is doable.
