Summer Spread Sew Along

Good Friday Morning to you!  Summer Spread Sew Along!
Last Friday I announced on Instagram that I'll be having a little casual sew along this summer.  I am making a summer spread.  A quilt without batting to use in the summer.

All are welcome to join in.  You can use any color, any size, any layout you like.  Please use #summersewalong and #summerspread on social media.

Here are the sizes I'm using:
Center - cut 2 1/2"
Strips  - cut 2"
easy peasy lemon squeezy and they go fast!
The inspiration came from having 5 stacks of low volume and shirting fabrics.  I am making up lots of FQs to sell on Etsy as I work on this project.

Other Summer Fun~

We have a local brewery "Thimble Island" Beers and decided to head over for Tuesday Night Trivia.  It was very fun to have our whole family out for an adventure.
And this happened!   We won with the highest score after 5 rounds.  What did we win?  Beer on a future visit.....like next Tuesday....

Thank you Diane for this lovely package with a cute Bee pin and cheddar nine patches.  The wrapping was gorgeous!
I'll have to find time to make a dolly quilt.
Have you ever made a Summer Spread?  I'm still deciding on how I will finish mine.
Happy Friday Everyone!

I have thought of making a quilt with no batting, just for the ease of hand quilting through the layers. Your start is so pretty, Barb!!

Thanks for the inspiration, Barb. Your summer quilt is a great idea! And I love that it won't need any quilting!!
Definitely should be easy peasy (never heard the lemon squeazy part, but I love it.)

That is going to be nice to have a pretty "quilt" on your bed for the summer, without the added weight and warmth of batting.
I commend you on being the Masters of Useless knowledge. That would look good on a resume. LOL
What a pretty bunch of cheddar goodness. Lovely wrapping fabric.

A few years ago the Summer “A Quilt Block a Day” was a foundation pieced strip quilt. I used muslin for the foundations and quilted it to backing with no batting. It’s my favorite summer quilt now!

This is going to be fun to follow along. Log cabin blocks are fun to make. Maybe you'll win the trivia challenge again :0)

I've never made a summer spread but I love yours in those soft colors :) Congrats on winning the big award. What fun! Can't wait to see what you do with the cheddar blocks. Such pretty wrapping!

Love this summer quilt........and your "low volume" choices.......so light, and pretty, and summery! Living in Florida where it's HOT a lot of the time, this would be perfect here!

I have a couple antique summer quilts and they are wonderful to use. I really love all the low volume fabrics, it is very calming. I just might have to play catch-up on this one.
My husband and I go to the Wednesday night trivia at a local brew pub. We have quite a few gift cards that we won by placing in the top 3. My employer also had trivia night and 2 co workers and i split $200! It's really a fun night out.

Congrats on the win. Did you start singing "We Are the Champions?" And I've been won over to the Light Side. It is a force to be reckoned with, though I just took in some binding work for a friend... I'm sure those blocks will taunt me while I take a break.

I'd love to jump in your sewalong, but I haven't had a chance to get in my sewing room to do ANY sewing! It's looking great!
