2024 UFO Goals - It's On!

This is the year at long last that I really do intend to finish some UFO projects.

Here are mine in order of priority.

A Baby Quilt for a friend - You may see your swap block!
Jill's Quilt (I really need a good name) I have started quilting this one.
Animal Crackers.  I started this about 8 years ago.
Cowboy Service Quilt - quilt and bind.
Quilt Nutmeg's Quilt - Workshop UFO that I took in 2022.

Indigo Baskets - UFO from 2021 or 2022.  Gladi Porsche sent me these lovely indigos.
Finish my Eagle top.
Helen's barn - I promised a friend I'd make her a little barn quilt like this one.
Scrappy Stars - Set and Quilt
In other news:  Hanna and David adopted a young cat and named her Harper.
She is a brown tabby.  She is 8 months and very cuddly and sweet.

So wish me luck!

Good luck, Barb! Harper is so beautiful. I want a tabby cat too! Lol. I love your quilt of Nutmeg. Have you noticed that some of the hourglass units in the Scrappy Stars are facing the wrong way? I know that it is a replica of an antique quilt but is the first block in the last row okay? Just saying. I'm sure you will get these quilts finished this year. Enjoy! ;^)

Best of luck finishing up your UFO's this year. I personally keep getting distracted by new ideas and what I read on blogs and then "have to make".
Now that the centers my grandgirls' Camping quilts are together, perhaps i can continue unearthing and finishing some of mine up...
Hugs, stay warm!! Julierose

You have a scrumptious variety! (And thanks for the suggestion for setting the swap blocks. I've used many but still have a bunch. They've been muttering at me.)

You've got a great collection on your plate. I would like to see you finish Animal Crackers first! Does that give you motivation to pick that one up? Lol! Harper is a beautiful kitty and very lucky to have found her forever home. Sweet.

Wow, way to commit! So many of these are nearly done (as in already pieced) that I'm confident you'll have a pile of finishes by year's end. I see Jill's quilt as the calming counter-balance to these other projects. Enjoy the process! How big is indigo baskets? Do you have a backing fabric yet? If not, I may.

I do wish you luck. I've been finishing a bunch of UFOs the last two years.
The surprise for me is that when I get a new one out of the closet - I fall in love with it again and really enjoy the journey to the finish.

What a great group of UFO’s to finish! You should be able to do it, if you don’t get sidetracked . I love what you’ve done with the indigos! Gladi

For Jill's quilt, what about "Remembering Jill" or "Remembering a dear friend". Good luck with your UFOs. I need some of your determination.

That's an ambitious plan - so many interesting projects! I want to whittle down my pile of ufo's too but first a wedding quilt to sew by May!

What a fun post. I have faith in you! I'm like someone else mentioned, easily distracted and go to the next project without finishing the other... ugh. I have my scrappy stars quilt to the top stage and quilt lines drawn. That's a win for me! LOL I spy some green blocks I swapped. I always love a blue/green combo. During Christmas I worked on a medallion top and used swap blocks that I've been hoarding waiting for inspiration to strike. Welcome to the family Harper. Thanks for the lovely post, we'll have to refer back to it at the end of the year. :) All the best in 2024.

I have also been working away on my UFO pile. You have a wonderful group of them to take to the finish line this year. I love thé setting for thé swap block baby quilt. My swap blocks (churn dashes and stars) need to be made into something. I have the broken dishes top made but it needs to be quilted. You caught the true likeness of Nutmeg ! I am taking a pet portrait class in February and will be using a picture of grand-dog Finn as my subject. Should be fun! Good luck with completing your UFO’s this year! You can do it!

Good luck, Barb! My quilting goals are more general, make more quilts and do more hand quilting! I’m doing well with my personal goals so far, one of which is to finally sort out photos and put into albums!

What a beautiful series of finishes for 2024. My vote (not that you asked for it) would be to move that spectacular Eagle quilt up the priority list- can't wait to see that one completed! But they all deserve to cross the finish line, and I'm sure the baby quilt can't wait much longer. And I see various commenters all have their favorites. Harper is a sweetheart. Glad she found a loving home.

Good luck with the UFOs this year. You have some really nice projects on the list. I am trying to get some tops quilted this year.

I'm doing the same thing. I want to have a low buy year, so I'm working on all my UFO's rather then "buy new projects". I'm doing the same with cross stitch.

Good luck on making progress toward your goals! I am sure you will get several projects done this year. I also have a "Jill's quilt" I would love to move toward completion. Perhaps you remember it; it consists of many odd-angle triangles which she was EPP-ing. She had been inspired by an antique quilt in a magazine but chose a cheddar/green/blue color them. Most of the pieces are assembled, or ready to be. I need to move a few other projects along first, but then I think that quilt will rise to the top of the list!

Barb, I'm chuckling because you didn't even mention all of the other quilt ideas that I know are spinning around in your mind. You always continue to push on with new ideas. That's what makes you continue to grow and innovate your art.

I haven't made a beginning of the year UFO list for some time now. Looks like you have some fun and diverse projects!

Always a great start to the new year, planning to getting those UFO's done! Good luck Barb :0) Are you really done with block exchanges? If you are DARN!!
But thank you for all those great exchanges and all the fun I had using those little blocks. Happy 2024, I hope it's good to you. Happy Sewing :0)

So many good projects in the works! Sometimes it takes a little bit of organization and a nudge to get through a stack of ufo's. I often have to use the carrot and stick approach to plow through the last little bits of some of mine.:)
