Life Goal Realized

I normally try to avoid this, but wanted to share the news that my Mother's Garden Quilt won 1st place in the Wall Hand Quilted category at the AQS Lancaster 2012 Quilt Show.

I am beyond surprised.  I was thrilled to have it accepted and for other quilters to see it.

Betsy, a guild friend, sent me this phone picture from the show this morning.  Thanks Betsy~

And here is Abe with Betsy's beautiful Silk quilt -

you can see a video of all the winners here -

After the dentist and house chores I plan to sit down with this and celebrate properly.

Thank you to all my quilt and blog friends who have encouraged me through many quilting projects and goals!

This is especially sweet for me because the quilt is a tribute to my mother, Catherine Clarkson Bednar 7/11/42 - 12/10/90.
You can see the full story of the quilt by clicking here.

Congratulations! Beautiful quilt - I love the design and the story behind it touches my heart. I too lost my mother to breast cancer when she was only 47. That was over 30 years ago and there isn't a day I don't think about her.

Hearty congratulations. That blue ribbon looks perfect hanging on your quilt. There's no doubt that quilts with a story and a family connection are the very best ones we make.

The next time I have a glass of something tasty made from grapes, I'll raise a toast to your beautiful quilt, and to your mother.

Late but heartfelt.

Proud to have seen the work in progrees in person. The whole quilt process and your lovely reason for designing and making it let me think about my mom and wish I had made her the quilt I had wanted her to have on her bed. I will make it for my sister who inherited the twin 4 posters mom mom loved and she sleeps on one.

You earned this award. Your mom had to be proud.
