So what's next? One thing I've been looking at are these beautiful blocks that were made by my very dear friend, Jill Reid, before she passed away last spring. Our friend, Susan, gave them to me to finish.
This was the last project on Jill's design wall. The block is called "Wheel of Fortune".
Susan and I don't know much about this quilt, or what Jill intended. Susan also found these large pieces of coordinating fabrics.
Here is the block that Jill drafted and colored. It makes me so sad every time I look at her notes.
Quite by accident I found this quilt with the block in it. I had never seen this block before.
So I'll have to see how things turn out with this inherited UFO. It's a special project near to my heart.

OMG. Any of these projects would be great to win. Thanks so much for the chance.
I have always admired quilts by Jill. I just connected with her style.
If I have to choose, then I would be love to win #5 or #3.
I caN only imagine how hard it is to work on Jills quilt, its beautiful and I know you will love it when its done.
Great giveaway, would love to try the aurfil thread and love brown fabric so no.5 is the one I would like to win :)
thanks! Have fun at the show
Kathie
I love Jill's blocks. They look like sunshine :0) I am confident that you will be able to make a very beautiful quilt with them! How special to work with her last WIP. Do you get to keep the quilt? A fun and varied giveaway but I better stay clear - I have plenty of ufo's floating around here already - lol
Jill's blocks look fabulous. I'd love the chance to win giveaway #4.
A bittersweet project to work on. I'm sure it will turn out great.
What a generous offering. I'd love to win #4. The Jo Morton workshop piece.
Jill's blocks remind me of sunflowers. Love all that yellow. Toss my name in the giveaway for #1 and #5, please.
What beautiful blocks left to you...I know you will come up with something wonderful...Thanks for all the great giveaways...I like 4 & 5
Jill's blocks are amazing. I'm sure you will do them justice! I LOVE the four patch posey Halloween blocks and fabric. Halloween is my favorite holiday and I just finished my first Halloween quilt so another would make me very happy:) Thanks for the opportunity! qltdiva1@fuse.net
What an honor to work on Jill's project. Hard, but think,of her in JOY, she shared so much of her quilting passion with her Windham work. I always wanted to meet her in person. Your give away is generous. I like #5 your King George left overs.
Enjoy the PA show!!
It is nice you will have something to keep that she worked on too. I bet she is smiling down on you thinking
how her project will get done after all.
I'd be happy with any of your generous giveaways, how kind of you Barb.
Thanks for the chance to win.
Happy Sewing, have fun in PA ., I look forward to pictures :0)
I have made that block of Jill's before and it wasn't easy! lol I have blocks and a diagram of the block as well, but had no idea what the "plan" was.
I'd love to win something. In order, 5, 4 and 2. Enjoy the show!
I know you will make a great job of finishing this quilt. What a generous giveaway - all lovely! We don't do Halloween in much of a way in Australia so my choices would be 5 or 3 :)
You are going to make a beautiful quilt out of Jill's blocks. You may not have a complete idea on what she had planned for but it will be such a special project. The quilt looks beautiful and her sketch is precious than anything I have ever seen. I am sure it is difficult to visit her this way and may be little comforting too..Hugs to you my friend. See you at the show.
So sad about Jill's passing and I don't envy you right now. Although they are very beautiful and cheerful blocks, working with them and her notes must be so hard. Consider yourself hugged is all I can say.
I would like package number 4 or 5 please. Enjoy the show.
I know you will find the inspiration and joy of Jill's blocks and it will be glorious. I would love to win 4 or 5, thanks for sharing.
Jill's blocks are wonderful. I'm sure you are going to make something lovely out of them. I would love to win number 4. Thanks for sharing.
I love anything and everything by Jo Morton, so #4 would be my first choice. I also really like the 30's fabrics, so #3 would be my second choice. I'm thankful that I don't have to have a blog to win one of these giveaways. I love to read blogs for inspiration, but I don't have one of my own.
Thank you so much! What a lovely idea for old UFOs. Blessing upon you as you finish up Jill's project. Looking forward to seeing how you use them, and hoping it will be a healing and joy giving experience finishing her work. I would love to win something in this order: 4,5,3,2. I don't think I'd use the Halloween fabric. Thank you! sarah@forrussia.org
Love the wheel of fortune blocks and the pattern you found in the book is perfect. If you have enough fabric it was meant to be. I hope that you can make it work.
As for the giveaway my first choice would be #4 and I would treat it like a round robin. If that doesn't wok out I would love to finish any of your other UFOs. Thank you for sharing.
Hello! I'm back. I just saw what I think are the same blocks you are working with done in neutral colors on another blog. Here's the link: http://terrytreasures.blogspot.com/2014/09/amish-country-quilt-show.html
Maybe this quilt will give you some ideas to work with.
love the Sunbonnet Sue blocks!
I hope the memories of your dear friend are with you why you finish her creation. Maybe it will help with the grieving process.
I would like to try the Aurifil thread as I have yet to piece with it and everybody blogs about it. That is the give away for me. I have read quilters using it for machine and hand piecing. Reviews say it is good, strong and comes in many colors without a lot of fluff in the sewing machines. It has been on my to try list for about a decade. I no longer have my blog due to my health but appreciate yours because I get to see all your creations. It really is a blessing to have followed your quilting journey. Now I see I did not do it right. I would enjoy #5. Thank you! I might be non email blogger but I follow yours :)
What great UFO's! So hard to choose. Would love to win 5 or 4. I mailed in my 9 patches. Can't wait to receive them!!!!
THANKS
I LOVE love love Jill's blocks! I want to go and sew some right now. :)
You have more than enough of Jill's lovely blocks to make that beautiful quilt in the book photo, what a special memory treasure that will be! I would enjoy # 4, 5 or 3, in that order. ( I'd love #4 to add to my small quilt wall, I have a couple of small quilts there from quilters I admire). What a great idea to share your UFOs! Thanks for your inspiration blog!
Jill's blocks are so beautiful, and the picture of the quilt you posted would be great to use them in. Love all of your giveaway choices, but especially #5. Thanks for your generosity, Barb.
What a treasure you have in those blocks by Jill. I can imagine it would be emotional to work on. I'm sure she would be pleased whatever you did with them, just knowing they could bring you some joy (once the emotion isn't so raw).
I have that quilt top she made and have decided I am going to custom quilt it now, instead of an all-over design. I want it to be a nice remembrance.
Love your giveaway idea--numbers 3, 4, and 5 caught my eye, in that order. I have a few vintage 30s blocks that need some friends in order to make a quilt. I would also welcome a small quilt made by your hand (I know, I already have one, but it would love company!)--and the lovely fabrics and thread would definitely be put to good use.
Beautiful project! I would love them all!!!!!!!

It would make me sad too to see Jill's written notes, but that quilt with its bright colours will be a beautiful reminder of Jill. Not that any one needed reminding what a beautiful person Jill was. Lucky you to inherit the blocks.
Barb don't put me in to your giveaway not that they aren't all gorgeous but its to expensive to shop overseas.
Beautiful treasure blocks from Jill.
I would be happy to win #4 or #5 and agree to pay the extra shipping XXX
I'd love to win either of the Halloween projects. If I were to be lucky, I'm happy to pay the postage to the UK. Thanks for being so generous.
What a special project to be able to work on your friend Jill's beautiful blocks. Thank you for a chance at the giveaway. I would love to win the Sunbonnet Sue blocks.....
How wonderful that you can work on and complete your dear friend's quilt. Such beautiful blocks and colors!
As to the giveaway, were I to win, I think that I'd like the King George fabric...love those deep rich colors! :)
Oh that King George leftover pkg would be my choice--and you know why...I am still 9-patching while having my dining/den floor refinished--thanks for the chance..hugs, Julierose
I love 2, 4, and 5! Jills blocks look very much to me like sunflowers! I dont know if that was her intention but it does look like em to me. I am sure you will do her proud.
Jill's blocks are beautiful. I look forward to seeing what you do with them. As for me, I'd love to take either one of the Halloween UFO off your hands. :)
I like the blocks Jill made. One of the things I like about them are the darker yellow larger print cornerstones. Jill will be looking down and smiling while you finish the quilt.
Put me in the draw for the Jo Morton piece. So my style!
I would like #4, it is beautiful. Thanks for the chance.
Jill's blocks are gorgeous. It will be really special for you to finish them. I would love to finish up #1, #4 or #5!!!
Thanks for the chance!
allisonpogany@gmail.com
It is sad, but also special and meaningful that you will be working on your friends quilt blocks. May your memories be a blessing as you stitch. #5 is my choice, thank you.
I love #5...thanks for the chance!
Jill's blocks are beautiful and I think maybe she directed you to that book where you found the quilt picture. Our little group finished one of Marybeth's (MB in MI) quilts for her family. Just what I need - another UFO - but I would love #1 or #3. Thanks Barb!!
What a special UFO you have inherited being a part of! Love the graph she made was preserved, too. It is gorgeous so far. I would choose #4 - Jo Morton workshop piece if I were to win.
Oh, and secondly I'd choose #5 - a non-UFO giveaway. Left overs from King George quilt and a spool of Aurifil brown #50 weight thread.
What a special UFO to have received. It is beautiful too. What a great way to bless your friend by taking her work to a finish when she can't.
Thanks for a chance to win a great giveaway. I choose #5! I also really like #1.
Have a great day!
I know as you work on Jill's quilt it will be with some sorrow mixed with many happy memories of your time spent with her. As for the giveaways, my first choice would be #4 as that has been on my 'want to do' list for quite some time. Second choice would be #2 as that (along with #4) would have the best chance of being finished in this house! LOL Thanks!
Jill's blocks are so happy and beautiful--you will make another wonderful remembrance of her.
I also love #5 and #4 of your giveaways.
I would love #3 sunbonnet sue to add to my UFO collection
I would add #4 or #5 to my collection... all are wonderful.
Scanning on Pinterest there was one mention of the Wheel of Fortune block with Judy Martin. I looked at Judy's website and she has two versions from two different sources in 1983 and 1984.
Your King George quilt is beautiful. All the UFOs would be fun to have but I think I like #3 best because it is not something I would attempt to do myself. Have a great day.
I would like the 1st Halloween or the kIng George.
I would be thrilled to win any one of these great UFOs as they would be finished for a nursing home... but if I need to choose just one it would be the Jo Morton workshop piece as I have a cute little lady who I know would just love it. Thank you for a chance to win.
I would love to win #5. I love the fabric.
UFOs are so much fun to work with! I would LOVE the fabric and my favorite thread!! But I would be happy to win any of your fun giveaways!
Love them all but especially #4. Sue from Lake Tapps WA
Hi Barb, I would love to have No 4 Jo's beautiful block. Thanks for the opportunity.
Babs Down Under (Perth, Western Australia)
My favorite is the one you are keeping - a beautiful piece that you are sure to treasure because of its special meaning. I would love to win the King George leftovers.
I love all of these but Sunbonnet Sue is my absolute favourite and I would love to win her! Thank you for the opportunity.
Halloween Four Patch Poise! How fun and I love the colors. Thanks for the giveaway. I'd love to win. What a cute quilt this will make.
King George leftovers I love the colors and who cannot love the thread. What a great quilt that would make for the foot of my bed. Our room is brown and red! Thanks for the giveaway. I'd love to win.
I just wanted to comment that you have a wonderful opportunity to honor your friend and her unfinished project. Please post when you are finished. I'd love to see your results.
Looks like a truly bittersweet project on your hands! It will be beautiful.
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity! I would love either #4 or #5!
Thanks! sew4given AT aol DOT com
Your friend's UFO blocks are gorgeous and I'm sure you will finish them beautifully. I'm new to your blog but can see that I will enjoy reading it. I'd love to win #1. (or #2 or #4 but I am thinking I might need to do separate comments for those? I will just in case!)
I'd be happy with #2 also. What fun!
And #4 is beautiful as well. What a nice give-away (and a way to weed out those UFO's!)
love the fabric and thread....be glad to win that for sure! and the jo morton piece is gorgeous....she is my high priestess of fabric....LOL
Jill's blocks are beautiful! Thanks for setting up this giveaway. I really like your jack-o'-lantern tumbler!
What a treasure to have Jill's blocks. They are in good hands. Love your King George quilt....the quilting pattern is a perfect choice. Thank you for a chance to win your giveaway.
#2 - Tumbler Jack'O Lantern is adorable. You are the one who got me going on Tumblers with your sweet tumbler flag!
#4 - Jo Morton workshop piece. I would love to win ANY of these though. crystalbluern at onlineok dot com
I would love to win #4. Always a Jo fan! What a bittersweet project to be working on - Jill's Wheel of Fortune. But, what a treasure you will have when it is completed! You will always have a piece of your friend! Thanks for the chance to win - HUGS... and stitches
I love Love the King George Leftovers. The wheel of fortune is amazing. Such Gorgeous colours. So sad but what an honour to finish as a friend. Enjoy your retreat
cheers Lynne
I love them all. I am open to either one. spongebob2285@yahoo.com
Oooohhh...what an awesome treasure you have from Jill. I love that you have her draft too - I know it has to be very dear to your heart. Also an awesome giveaway - are you purging? Lol! I love the Jo Morton piece and of course, I could always use more fabric and Aurifil thread (haha!).
#5 would be great. I love Aurifil thread and just yesterday was looking for brown and did't have any. And the fabric looks familiar, I think I have some in my stash.
First of all, I'm sorry for the loss of your dear friend. Fishing her quilt will be bittersweet... and a testament to your friendship. Best wishes with that project.
Secondly, thank you for your de-stash giveaway!
I love Halloween and would very much enjoy working with your #1 Halloween 4-patch posie bundle. If that's not available any longer, I would be tickled with # 4 or # 5 also! Thanks again!
(FYI, I live near Phoenix AZ.)
It's so nice of you to give prides away!!! Thank you!!!!
So many lovely and beautiful choices, I love the King George bundle and hope I win.
Cheers
So many good choices ,I have to choose it would be #5.
I'd love the Jo Morton panel, #4. I think that it would make a lovely centerpiece for a quilt, and I have some fabric in my stash I could use.
I would like #5 also.
I know how hard it is to finish a UFO from a dear friend who has passed. For me, it took over a year to get started. It's finished now & a very treasured piece. I'd like any of them but, think #2 would be first choice.
I'd like any of them so I'll enter for #4 this time.
A Halloween 4 patch posie would fun to do, so I'd like to enter for #1 also.
I'd pick #5...Love the flowers!
All are wonderful. The Tumbler Jack o lantern!
Love your inherited project. I know you will make something that would please her!
I would love to put my name in the drawing for any of your projects. This is a great way to share the love!
Judh
Those are very beautiful blocks! So very special to get to work with them. I'm sure you'll do them justice.:) Great drawing too! #4 or #5 looks wonderful!
I CRAVE Jo Morton, and can't believe you would give away your beauty. It's really sweet.
All of your work is inspiring! I need to get busy now!
All the choices are great, but #5 would work in a nice wheelchair sized lap quilt for my mom.
I HAVE IDEAS FOR #5
Would love #1 or #3. You're always thinking of something wonderful to do!
Norma
I really like them all but #5 really appeals to me

My heart goes out to you as you work with Jills blocks. Her blocks are really wonderful, they have a feeling of sunshine about them, and I know you will make them into a beautiful quilt. What a generous giveaway, I'm tempted but I won't enter because I have so many UFOs.
I like your friend's blocks, it will be a special time working with her blocks. Maybe this will help with your grieving. What book is that quilt in, I've been saving some plaids. I'd LIKE to win #4, love Jo Morton anything! Thanks for the giveaway.

What special blocks to finish! It's wonderful that her project will be finished. I would like to enter the drawing for the Jo Morton medallion,
These are beautiful. I would love to win #'s 3, 4 or 5.
I would like a chance at # 3, 4, & 5. Thanks for the chance! The blocks from Jill are very nice, I'm anxious to see what you do with them.
Jill's blocks are so cheerful, and they look perfect with the yellow fabric! Please put my name and address on the package of leftover fabric from George.
I'm loving the brown with red florals.
I would love either number 4 or 5. I enjoy reading your blog and I hope that you host more swaps.
Thank you
I like them all but I would like 1 or 2. Thanks for the giveaway
I would be happy with any of them, but especially like #3 and #4. Thanks!
Barb what a grouping, all the choices are wonderful but I am partial to #2 & #3. The first one calls to me to make something for a great niece who has a very sick daddy and she needs something special to hug and spend time with him. The thimble Halloween mini is totally for me....I adore Halloween and am just starting a series of tumbles from teeny tiny to ...too big but fun....Jill's blocks will speak to,you. No rush. You two knew each other a long time and she never seemed in a hurry to "get it done and out of the ways" she was a designer who loved her work and sharing it with her closest friends as it was in progress.....know she will be at your shoulder and smiling to see you are making a joint Jill/Barb project once again....
#5 love the print and colors
I would be happy to win any of the above. I am in awe of #4 since I consider myself to be an aspring aplliquer. Thank you for the chance to win any of the treasures!
These all look like fantastic UFO's but my favorites are 1 or 5.
I like #5 lovely fabric cooladam1 at live dot com
I would love to get UFO #5. I love all kinds of different fabrics and that would look great in one of my up coming quilts. Great giveways...
