Hello August!

Well....I have survived the heat wave here in CT.  I was on a loop of walk the dog, water the plants, go inside, repeat......

I recently finished this UFO that I started last fall.  It is the "Pockets to Go" pattern.
The zippered sections are my favorite part.  If you take the time to read the words, I think you'll get a chuckle!
Here is how it looks like filled with quilty tools.
I have often been encouraged to write a book, but actually I have written 6 so far.   They are all full of inspiration, tips, tricks, photos.
The organize every post into a table of contents.
This is a gift I give myself every year.  I use Blog2Print.   I have published my blog year 2015.   They do an awesome job.
I must say I'm pretty proud when I see these 6 books I have written on my shelf.   If the web crashes, I'll always have these.
On The Road~
Next week I'll be visiting the Ninigret Quilters.  I will present a lecture and trunk show on Tuesday, August 9 at 7pm at the Westerly Senior Center. On Wednesday, August 10, I will present her Liberated Houses workshop at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Charlestown.

I have just booked my first date for 2018, so if your guild or quilt shop would like to book me for a lecture or workshop they can find info on the tab above or email me.  I am currently developing a new mystery workshop and will add it soon.

Swap News!
It is on again for 2016.  I'll be posting the tutorial for making the blocks along with inspiration.  Sign up begins on August 15th.   I  will not be taking early sign ups.  I will host 40 swappers in both the Reproduction and Modern Groups.

Here is a little hint~
A photo of me doing the 2015 swap.
Quilt Show this Weekend!  I will have 5 quilts on display and Hanna and I are hosting the "Baby" display.  I will also be doing a little gallery talk on my Mother's Garden Quilt on Saturday.
It will be opening day for my Sumptuous Stars Quilt.
The Clamshell Quilt Guild 2016 Quilt Show will be held at the Connecticut College Student Center, Mohegan Ave., New London, CT.  August 6, 9am-5pm and August 7, 10am-4pm.

Come see the show if you're in the area.

I never get tired of seeing your Mother's Garden quilt. Have you done a blog post with the story about making the quilt? Surely you must have. The color combo and being strong colors and the words.....well everything about the quilt impress me.

I would love to see your Mothers Garden quilt in person sometime! You have a lot going on, so much good quilting FUN to share. It's a brilliant idea about the books. I have often wished I had my blogs from my time in Japan in book form - and voila you have a great recommendation for that!

Love the books! And any time I see Mother's Garden is a good day! Clever hint, too, wink, wink! Your Pockets to Go turned out great. I'm tempted to make another, but it will have to get added to the loooong list of projects.

What a great idea to print your blogs! I never knew you could do this. Excellent - especially since I have stopped documenting all my quilts in a photo album. Love the pocket to go organizer - great to have a UFO done! Good luck at the quilt show.. wish I was around this weekend - I would take ride. Have fun!

I've been meaning to do the blog2print since you first mentioned it a couple of years ago. Now I'm just that much further behind. Good for you though, I think it's important to have these records in print. You do have quite a nice little collection. As for the swap hint, I'm guessing 'broken dishes'? LOL
You do know how to keep it fun!

Wow, you are going to a busy teacher this year. I wish I could get you up here. I might just have to take up a private collection! Thanks for the Blog to Print idea. I will order one year at a time to ease the pain! Great idea though. Have fun with the swap. I have to stop somewhere! Too many sew-a-longs just now.

Thanks so much for the link for printing blogs in book format! My husband has been suggesting for several years that I print mine and now I have an easy way to do it. I am wondering though whether you back-up your blog posts? I backed up mine a month or so ago, but know that I should make it a habit and do it every time I write a new post.

Yes! Blog2Print is awesome! I have printed up several years of my blog as well. I plan to sign up for the swap next week!
