Quilts on Parade!

Thank you Herring Run Quilters for such a warm welcome last weekend.  Your show and tell was amazing!

The Northern Star Quilt Guild Show awarded my Alice Payne Quilt with a Blue Ribbon.
Hot Flash received an Honorable Mention.
Brownstone Quilters Guild  won a Blue Ribbon in the group category.
Thank you to all the quilters who shared their work at this show!  If generous quilters didn't take the time to enter, we wouldn't have a quilt show to attend.

Here is my Best in Show.  It was my favorite quilt of the day and just a wonderful wonderful quilt!
What majestic whales.
The details make it very special.
Here are a few more that I really liked.
Here is how I prep my quilts for shows:
I drape my big board with a clean bed sheet.  I also place one on the carpet under the board.
Then I set about checking the whole quilt for threads.  I use a lint roller over the entire surface, front and back.
Regardless of how carefully I store my quilts, they always pick up lint.  Try this - you'll be amazed!
I'd also like to wish my Applique' Medallion quilt project a Happy One Year Anniversary.  I should be finished by now, but I've had a very busy year.  I'm working on the 2nd clamshell border.
I'm off tomorrow for a girly getaway.  I plan to journal my little trip on IG.
Hope you have a great week.
xo

p.s. for those who have been reading FWB over the years, you'll notice I didn't report on the Derby.  Looking For Lee upset my betting boxes and overall I thought the race was Meh.

Your favorite quilt is pretty amazing. That is meticulous work, and the hand quilting is stunning!
I'd never considered how much work it must be to take your quilts for display.
Had not remembered that you were working on the medallion. It is a beautiful quilt.
Hope you have a fun getaway.

I'm thrilled that you liked my quilt!, but you have it labeled incorrectly. The title is Nantucket Memories ( entry #208). And it's not hand-quilted, although that was the look I was going for. It took nearly 80 hours on my HandiQuilter!

I'm so sorry Linda! I was rushing this morning and I'm so glad you told me about the photo error on the name card. I really loved your quilt and admired all the details. Your machine quilting was so lovely and done so well.
I hope you see the corrections to the post.

Congratulations on the ribbon, you deserve it. Thank you for the tips on how to get threads (dog hair on mine) off your quilts. I like the idea of sheet on the floor too. As always thank you for sharing.

Wow! Congratulations on your awards! I have to say I'm not surprised, as your quilts are always top notch. Love the appliqué medallion too. I know it will be a stunner whenever it's finished. Good tips on de-linting quilts before the show. It's hard to find all the dog hair, etc. until the quilt is hanging there under the bright lights.

Enjoy your weekend.

To the moon Alice! Congratulations! And for your Hot Flash too. I can't believe it has been a year since you first showed your medallion center. How time flies! Love the clamshells.

Congrats on the blue ribbon for your Alice Payne quilt! Nice to see Hot Flash in all all its glory - I don't think I've seen the full quilt before.

I was so excited to see AP won blue!! That quilt deserves a zillion ribbons!! I just love it so much! And so fun Hot Flush got a ribbon too. I love that quilt too. LOL, I love all your quilts! I love that you always include handy tips. It's so satisfying to roller quilts, it really freshens them up. Some quilts shouldn't be rushed. I think your applique medallion is going at a nice steady pace.

Congratulations, Barb, on both wins. I love that you love both traditional and contemporary and excel at both. Sounds like a great guild, too. Are you a member?

Thank you Betsy! I'm a member to exhibit in their show, but I'm not active. If it was closer I would be.
