Kitchen Sink Finish

"Orange You Glad I Didn't Say Banana?"   That is the silly name of this quilt.  It finishes at 40" x 40".

I started it in a Maria Shell's workshop. I have worked with orphan blocks many times so am very comfortable with the process.

I used swap blocks from 3 of my swaps; the Broken Dishes, the Churn Dash and the Star Blocks.  Can you find your block?I used black and white prints to pull it all together.
As I was watching Election returns, the quilting got very busy and noisy and confused.......

I pieced a backing.  Here is a very crooked photo, lol
I used the rest of this panel.   how funny is this section?
I tried out a new 3-D face mask.    I really like it because it allows room for talking and breathing and it help cut down fog on my glasses.  I used the Large Pattern.
If you want to try this one, here is the link for the patterns and a good YouTube tutorial  http://www.japanesesewingbooks.com/2020/06/20/free-mask-pattern-download-contoured-3d-face-mask/

Great finish!!! I think the yellow churn dash on the bottom right might be mine? and or the red one with the fans in the background fabric??? It's been a long time since we made those blocks. I miss your block swaps (-:

Oh ya!! I love this quilt! I especially love the fabric with the mixer beater. and that panel on the back is... strangely perfect! Love the new mask. I am really trying to not make another mask, hoping if I can stick with what I have now, things will be over soon. I know, I am delusional!

The top right star block was made by me! Such a fun quilt with lots of little details to discover,

Thank you for mask info. Since it looks like we will be wearing them for a long, long time, I guess I better make myself and my family some more comfortable ones. And what a great quilt!

Love the quilt name and all of the very different theme fabrics - it almost seems like an I-Spy quilt.

I so enjoyed the swaps though I don't know if you used one of mine or not. The whole combination is a delight. Thanks for the link to the mask pattern.

Your quilt is great, very sharp and witty, and the backing is weird and wonderful! I may have to come out of mask-making retirement to try that pattern.

This quilt is so visually striking! The warm colors just glow against the black and white. And that panel on the back is GREAT! Your comfort with orphan blocks really shows. This somehow seems balanced and intentional, in spite of the randomness.
As I watched election returns my stomach was in knots.
Just today I cut out about 2.5 dozen masks from Christmas fabrics, and about a dozen in dark, dull colors because I am running out of masks for men. That is what most of them want. Hopefully that will be the end of my stitching masks, or I would give your pattern a try.

Thank you for the mask link. It may be a long time, so I may have to make a few more. "Orange is the new banana" is wacky, for sure! Happy Thanksgiving!

Great finish! I love the color combos - out of the ordinary, but so much fun! Thanks for the mask pattern pointer. Now that we've been wearing masks for awhile, I think we all know what we like and dislike about various styles. Gonna give this one a try!

So many good things in your Kitchen Sink! Love all the fabrics--colors and prints! Fun quilt!

Your finish is wonderful, Barb! I can see how a quilter would have an advantage using color-coordinated leftover blocks from a swap. Such is NOT the case for me. I'd love to take that workshop, but wonder if it wouldn't be super-challenging because I have one block of this, another block of that, another odd shape, another unusual color combo - nothing a bit consistent. Such a mish-mash of colors and sizes, like mine, probably wouldn't look good together. But your piece sure came across great! It looks so cohesive. Will it be gifted as a baby quilt? Or do you have plans to hang it?

Sew very creative! I look at that girl with the cat mask(?) and laugh at the words around it. What is with HER?

What is the name of the panal you used? Do you know if it is available for purchase on any of the online shops? Thanks. I really like how your quilt turned out.

Great quilt! So graphic and interesting, definitely lots to look at. I had to laugh at your frenzied quilting during the election returns ... lol!
