"Orange You Glad I Didn't Say Banana?" That is the silly name of this quilt. It finishes at 40" x 40".
I started it in a Maria Shell's workshop. I have worked with orphan blocks many times so am very comfortable with the process.
I used swap blocks from 3 of my swaps; the Broken Dishes, the Churn Dash and the Star Blocks. Can you find your block?
I used black and white prints to pull it all together.

Oh ya!! I love this quilt! I especially love the fabric with the mixer beater. and that panel on the back is... strangely perfect! Love the new mask. I am really trying to not make another mask, hoping if I can stick with what I have now, things will be over soon. I know, I am delusional!

Your quilt is great, very sharp and witty, and the backing is weird and wonderful! I may have to come out of mask-making retirement to try that pattern.
This quilt is so visually striking! The warm colors just glow against the black and white. And that panel on the back is GREAT! Your comfort with orphan blocks really shows. This somehow seems balanced and intentional, in spite of the randomness.
As I watched election returns my stomach was in knots.
Just today I cut out about 2.5 dozen masks from Christmas fabrics, and about a dozen in dark, dull colors because I am running out of masks for men. That is what most of them want. Hopefully that will be the end of my stitching masks, or I would give your pattern a try.

Great finish! I love the color combos - out of the ordinary, but so much fun! Thanks for the mask pattern pointer. Now that we've been wearing masks for awhile, I think we all know what we like and dislike about various styles. Gonna give this one a try!

Your finish is wonderful, Barb! I can see how a quilter would have an advantage using color-coordinated leftover blocks from a swap. Such is NOT the case for me. I'd love to take that workshop, but wonder if it wouldn't be super-challenging because I have one block of this, another block of that, another odd shape, another unusual color combo - nothing a bit consistent. Such a mish-mash of colors and sizes, like mine, probably wouldn't look good together. But your piece sure came across great! It looks so cohesive. Will it be gifted as a baby quilt? Or do you have plans to hang it?
