I feel like a turkey, because I have not written a post since August! So this is a photo dump and catch up.
Kindred Spirits won first place at my local fair in September.
It went on to win Best in State at the CT Fair Banquet earlier this month. Thank you to all who commented on my IG and FB post. It was a thrill to win and of course I share it with Jill. The Wedding quilt was gifted to Rich's Goddaughter in Breckenridge. Here is it after quilting. It took quite a while to quilt it, but I liked how it turned out.I continue to work on my Jane Stickle potholder blocks.I made my first crochet hat of the season for my friend, Scarlett.Hooray - I finally finished Helen's horse barn! It now lives in Colorado.I finished this bag that I started 2 1/2 years ago.I did a lot of traveling and teaching and had the busiest fall I can remember. Here are some workshop samples.
After my quilting trips the quilt storage room looked like this! Nutmeg doesn't mind.
I've just finished this quilt top, which as you can see is like the wedding quilt I made earlier this year. This is not the final layout. I'll share the finished quilt next month. We had an election. Now we wait to see what comes next. I was inspired to see this sign on a walk last week.
I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. Ours was very peaceful and quiet. We watched the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It is such a great story and beautifully filmed.
Thank you to everyone who follows me on Instagram! It is not the same community as blogging, but it offers us a chance to share.
In the meantime, enjoy the holiday season and stay well.

Lovely to see your post. Congratulations on the Kindred Spirits wins…..so well deserved! I love the sign you saw on your walk, it speaks what is in my heart.
I follow you on Instagram but always love to see your blogposts! Those blocks made from solids are fun…what workshop is that? I also am in full agreement with the sign. Congrats on the big win for your collaboration with Jill.
always delighted to see your work on any platform!
Congratulations on having your beautiful quilts recognized with ribbons! I was glad to see a post from you today. Thanks for sharing the sign. It's what so many of us are thinking.
What an honor for your beautiful quilt -- Ribbons galore!!!! I always enjoy your blog posts as I'm not IG. Your quilts are amazing so I'd think your classes would be too. Happy holiday season!
What a fun catch up post! I don't recall you making a Jane Stickle quilt, potholder style! So cool!
So nice to hear from you again. Congratulations on Best in State!
Congratulations! You always do such beautiful work.
Congratulations on the awards for your lovely work! I enjoy your Instagram posts, but am a dedicated blog reader, too, so thanks for posting. Wishing you a holiday season of joy and peace!
Congratulations on the awards for Kindred Spirits. It is a beautiful quilt with special memories of your dear friend. You have been very busy lately. I enjoyed seeing your workshop photos. Wishing you a blessed week! Kelley Secrest
Enjoyed your catch-up post. Congrats on your awards. The Star quilts are both lovely, and I like the style of quilting you chose, too. You've been busy with assorted projects! I'm missing my machine as we are in the middle of moving- not fun. But getting there. Your table reminded me of the Cranston turkey panel for the stuffed holiday bird. I've made two and just love the vintage feel of them. Happy holidays!
Always love to see a new post. We also watch Lord of the Rings at Thanksgiving. Always makes me feel hopeful.
Hello! Happy to hear from you and catch up with your lovely work. Congrats on the ribbons! Kindred Spirits is a true heirloom masterpiece. Love the wedding quilt. Those are my favourite colours. Love the crochet hat too. Enjoy! ;^)
So nice to see you on Blogger again. Many kudos to you on Kindred Spirits. Merry Christmas!!
I'm so glad to hear from you again, Barb! Not on Instagram, so I don't know what you are up to until you post. :)
Congrats on the well-deserved First Place for Kindred Spirits!
That wedding quilt makes me think of the "red rocks" and turquoise skies of the National Parks in southern Utah. And I can understand why it took so long to quilt. That is a labor-intensive quilting pattern.
Can't wait to see your Potholder Jane Stickle come together. Very cool idea.
Beautiful hat!
Looks like a bag I never would have started, with all the zippers involved. Why do I avoid them so when I put in zippers for years when making clothing? But I do really like that bag.
I had to laugh when I saw your "quilt storage" room with quilts tossed helter-skelter. Nutmeg thinks it was all for her. (I can't recall, but I'm assuming Nutmeg is a her.)
I had to stop and go back and forth between photos to believe the black and white quilt was the same as the wedding quilt. It is fun to see how much color changes can take a design in a whole different direction.
Yup, we had an election. I'm still trying to find my balance after that. As I type this I am listening to Mitt Romney's farewell speech to the Senate. Hate to see someone with integrity leaving the arena.
Love your Thanksgiving table setting. Ours wasn't as quiet as it sounds like yours was, but there was no one under the age of 15, so it wasn't too crazy. My DIL arranged for us to plant succulents in pots or terrariums in the middle of the afternoon to break up the games and eating.
It's so nice to see this post. You have such a way with holiday decorating and ambience. I like that sign you saw on your walk. I would love to see more of that here in NC.... The wedding quilt is just so nice, and the wavy quilting is fabulous. COngratulations on your ribbon. I am getting back in the habit of reading blogs again after a couple of months. Not as many people blogging but I'm not ready to entirely give it up!
It was a nice treat to have a wonderful post from you : ) Lots of eye candy. Happy Holidays!
