February - Longest Month Ever!

Hello! Here is my first 2025 Finish.  Sweet little dolly quilt.

I also made a little doll quilt for a sweet girl turning 1 year next month.
If it looks familiar, I made it using leftovers from this quilt and it is for the same little girl.
In January, we went to Chicago for  a family wedding.  Here is a group shot of the "Danish Cousins".  It was a wonderful occasion to reconnect with family.
Rich and I spent a whole day visiting Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry.  It is by far my favorite museum.  I've been visiting it for over 50 years.  The U505 Submarine exhibit space is incredible.
I have always loved getting a mold-a-rama as museums and zoos.  They had a special exhibit with many vintage wax molds.
It was a fabulous day and trip down memory lane. Here is my little pile of treasures.
You may have seen this in IG.  I Mod-Poged  a quilt puzzle.
I have made several more Jane Stickle blocks.  I'm using a variety of techniques.
I'm making this quilt with the pot holder method, so there are a lot of single bindings to sew.
Woo hoo!  I finished stitching the large black ring on my Eagle.  I'm getting close to finishing this quilt top.
I found this beautiful lamp at the Good Will store.   It needs a larger shade, but for  now I'm enjoying it.  The price you ask?  $7.99.
The Magnolia has such a soft pretty look, and I also love the gold accents.
Just last night we enjoyed a candlelight concert.  It was wonderful!  I highly recommend finding one near you.   We heard 4 young men from Yale play Vivaldi's Four Seasons and a few other pieces.
When the house lights go out, and hundreds of (flameless) candles are the only light, it is truly magical.

Finally, if you are still here I wish you peace and comfort in these troubling times.
Stay warm and well friends.

We’ve been to that museum in Chicago! That looks like a spectacular wedding venue! Your doll quilts are cute and I’m sure that one year old loved her birthday gift. Do you use regular batting or a piece of flannel in your doll quilts? Your new table topper is fun- what a neat way to show off your puzzle. Love seeing the Jane blocks too. Take care. Troubling times indeed. Gail at the cozy quilter

So nice to have a post from you, Barb! Glad you and your family are doing well and getting out and about. I have those swap churns and stars in a bag waiting for the ideal project. Did you get to the Fairy Castle at MSI this time? I recommend the novel From Dust to Stardust by Kathleen Rooney. It's about Colleen Moore, who created the Fairy Castle. What a fascinating woman!

Such beautiful quilty treasures! I also love the lamp :-) Hoping with you for safety and enlightenment to increase. I think I'm going to re-read The Hobbit and The Trilogy of the Rings. Dark times require great courage and hope.

What a fun post full of all sorts of things! I found the quilts sweet and inspiring. My husband was fascinated with the U505. We need to make a trip up to Chicago I guess. Always good to hear from you. Keep the faith!

I’d like to know how you mod podged the puzzle. Did you stick it to a base first.
Secondly, how do you join the bindings on your pot holders. You machine them around the edges but how do you finish them.

Two sweet little dolly quilts.
Love the photo of the Danish Cousins.
That looks like a really cool museum. I have only ever just driven through or flown over Chicago, so I haven't experienced any of what it has to offer (other than seeing fireflies for the first time, driving through the suburbs one night when I was in my early teens).
That is a fun way to use the quilt-themed puzzle.
You appear to be making very good progress on several projects.
That is an elegant-looking lamp. Nice find.
I've never heard of a candlelight concert, but the candles all over the stage looks really cool.
Gorgeous views of the snow and lights outside.
Yes, I share and echo your closing sentiments.
