It IS Pie!

Happy Pie Day!  (3.14)  I'm sharing my quilt which is just back from QuiltCon.  It was a thrill to be part of the show in Raleigh.

Here is a close up of the quilting.  I used alternating lime green thread and rainbow.
Thank you to everyone who sent me a nice comment or a photos of my quilt.  It was great to see it on IG and get some new followers.

Hooray!  I finished another UFO.  It is an outreach quilt for Habitat for  Humanity.
Sorry, it is upside down, here is a closer look.  It is a cute print with Santa cowboys.  Why Santa?  dunno.
I machine stitched the binding down from the front using this blanket stitch and I really like it!  Good for a quilt that might get tugged and washed a lot.
I practiced my free-motion quilting, which is not great.  Not bad, but not good either.

Here are my Jane Stickle blocks.  Not a UFO but hey, I get to do one thing not on the list right?
I've decided on this red for the bindings on my potholder style quilt.  I'll be machine quilting it with silk thread.    I'm only making 100 blocks (ha ha - only)

I haven't been quilting on Jill's quilt nearly enough and must recommit.
I had a nice visit with the Hudson Highland Quilters.
We had a day of building houses without patterns.  What a treat to have pizza dinner and a catered lunch with this group.
Don't forget to treat yourself to a Shamrock Shake!  I had one while running errands and it was such a good naughty treat.
Have a great Pie Day!!
See you in April.

2017 Finally!

Hooray 2016 is over and I won't miss it.  Some really great things happened and some really not great things happened.  I'm ready to move on....

I've been making little doll quilts in preparation for a new workshop that I'm rolling out in February.

Here is my first finish of 2017.  Thank you, Annie, for helping me with show and tell.
It's a mystery doll quilt class.  The purpose is to pick a theme out of a hat and go for it.  No patterns.  I will have lots of inspiration on hand and will guide the students.  Here is a log cabin quilt I made last week.
I've made 2 more which I'll share next week.  It's been so fun.

I've decided to use this chart to keep mindful of my UFOs next year.  I'll fill it out and share it next week.
I finished this top January 10 LAST YEAR and didn't have it quilted for this Christmas.  Hopefully the list will help.
Christmas Stuff Round Up:
My sweet coco turned 8 on Christmas Day.  Here is a IG post with her as a 6 week old puppy and on a Christmas Day walk.  We also served her a special dinner and she has new giant hedgehog toy.
Mr. Starbuck got a special stocking, but literally did not care.
Thank you for all the nice comments on my new God Jul quilt.  If I can figure out where to get giant paper, I may be offering it as a pattern.  Here you can tell how big it is.
sorry- it's a cell phone pic in bad light.

Happy New Year!  Looking forward to sharing another year of creative inspirations from my sewing room to yours.

Cabin Fever - For Real!

Happy Saturday- I'm late for a Fun For Friday and I'm early for a Tuesday post.   I've lost a week due to an unwelcome, unwanted and unappreciated virus.  Perhaps you've heard my cough it has been a "cough heard 'round the world" kind of thing.

Here is my 18 year old UFO Log Cabin quilt top so far:

Look at these striking combinations.  The blocks are 10" square-ish.  There appears to be a heavy trimming hand at work here.

As you can see, it is a everything and the kitchen sink mash up.

I have 35 blocks that still need to be set.  All this just sitting around, moving to 2 different homes, across state lines  and through many US Presidents.  And why?  I think it's the general weirdness of the overall combination of dated fabrics.

Can it be saved?  Should it be saved?

Here is a project I finished before the plague set it.  I think I'll name it "Inauguration Day".  It is made up of patriotic prints.

The backing is an Americana toile fabric.

It has found a home on our family room dining table.

Stay warm and well and have a great Weekend!
